| Wednesday, May 29, 2002 I still don't have the setlist from the Quiet Woman performance, but I've begun posting some pictures from that night. Whoo hoo, did everyone get DRUNK. I also finally posted the lyrics to Lethal Lolita. Enjoy, and I'll get that setlist up ASAP. So, shall Cheese rock the beach at Squan this summer? Drop us a line and beg. Tuesday, May 21, 2002 Ohhhhh yeah. Real Cheese made a triumphant return to live performance with two hot sets at the Quiet Woman in Hoboken, NJ. The show was in honor of Dug The Roadie's 30th birthday, at a surprise party thrown by his wife, Carly The Roadie's Wife. The crowd gave the Cheese a great reception and we kicked it old-school with many old favorites and a couple new tunes. As soon as the setlist and pictures are available, I will post them. Everyone was very very drunk, and I chipped my tooth on the microphone. Sean Waters joined the band to sing on "Look Out Ground" and "Dead Flowers," and Michele Merola tapped the tambourine ably. We also debuted a new version of "Love Is Nice" with lyrics all about Doug. Feel free to post some hazy recollections of the evening on the forum. The new album is almost fully recorded and will be mixed soon. I can't see it being out later than July 4th. It's gonna rock your summer, kids. And ladies, if the music gives you and overwhelming desire to make hot love to the singer, please don't hold back. Just give me fair warning and a Dr. Pepper. Also, there are some new pictures up on the Photos page. That is all. Wednesday, April 3, 2002 Okay, you all know that Sean & Jess had a baby. Kieran was born on April Fool's Day - you all got Sean's e-mail. I'll just take the opportunity to wish them OFFICIAL REAL CHEESE CONGRATULATIONS. Sean has jammed with Real Cheese, creating our splinter project, The Jackasses. We co-wrote the song "Look Out Ground," the lyrics to which I've finally posted. In other news...come to LaCabanna, man. May 3-5th. I turn a horrible old age on May 7th, so I'm sure we'll mark the occasion while watching the Kentucky Derby and getting sauced up at the cabin. Last year I wore a pinata on my head. Who knows what will happen this year. Thursday, March 21, 2002 Well, today is the first full day of Spring. Isn't that nice? Tonight it will get down to the 20s! Insanity...but why the hell am I talking about the weather? I do not know, my friends, I do not know. I hope you've been enjoying the site. It occurs to me I need to write these little journal entries more frequently. When I ramble on about nothing, I get a good response. A bunch of us checked out a NY area band last weekend, The Kings County Moonshiners. They were pretty dope if you like country music, rock'n'roll and Bob Dylan covers sung by a guy in a ten gallon hat with a big black beard. I happen to like all of those things. I'd link you to their site, but they don't seem to have one. So just e-mail Doug and ask him what he thought. Definitely check out that list of cover tunes I compiled. Its pretty looney. I mean, why the hell did we ever jam on a Yes song? And why is it that our version of "Leaving On A Jet Plane" is so much better than most of our Beatles and Dead covers? The new album ain't finished, but if we don't have it out by the summer, I'm going to beat Jeff senseless with a sack of doorknobs. Yeah, yeah, it's my fault too. Who asked you? In other news, I just want to thank Karen & Jim for their kick-ass St. Patty's Day bash, and tell everyone to listen to a Kinks cd, preferably The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society. And oh yeah, you all bother to check the site out, but very few of you ever mouth off on the message board or guestbook--what's the deal? Are you lazy or worried your co-workers will find out? Please, say something. I get lonely.... A fresca would be lovely, matt Winter '02 entries |
