Miras International School was founded by Nursultan Nazarbaev Educational Foundation in September 1999 and offers the International Baccalaureate Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Students in pre-school, kindergarten and primary school (grades 1-5) receive instruction in two languages - English and Russian.

The middle school program (also in Russian and English) embraces the interdependency of various disciplines and fosters an inquiry approach to a broad range of topics and areas of study.

The IB Diploma Program, comprising the last two years of instruction, is taught exclusively in English.

The IGCSE is offered in selected subjects and is also taught in English.

The campus facilities include modern science and computer laboratories. Specialized facilities include areas designated for art, music, drama and dance. The school has a large greenhouse for the curriculum to focus on ecology and conservation of recourses. A sport hall with enough space for a basketball court and outdoor tennis courts are also located near the school.

A comprehensive modern library with 30 computers and adequate research stations is provided, along with computers, TV and video in all classrooms.
