The Poker Hand
I got this trick from a magic book I bought while I was visiting Victoria, BC. Effect - The spectator deals a hand of poker. He gets the four kings, and you get the four aces. Method - Before you preform the trick, place the four aces on the top of the deck and the four kings upside down on the bottom of the deck. Place the deck on a table with the aces on the top. Tell the spectator to cut about half of the deck and turn it upsidedown next to it on the right. Then tell him to cut half of that pile and place it face down next to the it to the right (figure 2). pick up the pile to the left and place it on top of the second pile. Pick up the big pile and place it on top of the third pile. Turn the deck face up and say "the first group of face down cards that I come to, is going to be what we use for poker cards." Take the first group of face down cards and silently count them to yourself. If the packet can be devided by 4, say to deal four cards each starting with you. If the packet can be devided by five, say to deal 5 cards each starting with you. If the number of cards isn't devisible by 4 or 5, say the same thing you would say if it was devisible by 5, except deal the invisible players more or less cards so that the spectator gets the last four cards. The spectator needs to get the last four cards! Look at your hand and be sure you have the four aces. Tell the spectator to look at his hand and ask him if he thinks he can beat you in a game of draw poker. If they say yes, take the rest of the deck and place it in the center. Ask him/her if they want to draw any cards. They should say no. Say "You should never play poker with a magician" and show him/her your hand. If they say they can't beat you, say "You are smart not to play a magician" and show him/her your hand.

Predicting A Mate
I got this trick from http://www.cardtricks.org.uk . The directions were not to clear and they were missing a step. It took me a while to figure out how to do it, but now I have it down pretty good. I have made it a little bit clearer. Effect - You predict a card that will be chosen later in the trick. The spectator chooses the number of cards they take and hides them from veiw. Based on the number of cards he/she took, you pick a card and it matches your prediction. Method - First you must turn the deck upside down and fan through the cards, memorizing the bottom card. Count 13 cards off of the bottom of the deck and place them on top of the deck. Say to the spectator "I will now make a prediction that will come into play later in the trick". Search for the card with the same color and value as the bottom card you memorized (if the bottom card was a 5 of hearts, you would find the 5 of diamonds). Take the card and place it off to the side face down. Say "When I turn my back, take any number of cards off of the top of the deck between 1 and 10, but don't tell me how many." "Now I am going to count 12 cards from the top of the deck". Put the top card down and say 1, then put the second card on top of the first card and say 2, and so on. You have now reversed the order of the top 12 cards. Say to the spectator "I am going to deal 1 card at a time and when I have dealt the number of cards you took say stop" When the spectator says stop, take the card you just dealt and place it next to your prediction card. Say "If my prediction was right, these two cards should be mates". Turn over the cards and hope that you did it right.

Find The Aces
I made up this trick. This trick can be used with any number for a different trick each time. Effect - The spectator chooses a number. You count that many cards off of the top of the deck and whatever value that card has, you count up from the bottom of the deck and place that on top. The spectator flicks the deck and the aces are at the top. Method - You can do this trick many different ways. One way is to before the trick put two random cards at the bottom of the deck and put the four aces above them so that the aces are the third through the 6th cards from the bottom. The card that is second from the top should be a six. Now you are ready to do the trick. Ask the spectator to pick a number between 15 and 30. Like in Predicting A Mate, quickly deal the top card on to the table, then the next on top of that, and so on. Purposely count 1 extra card. Say "Wait did you say whatever the number is plus 1?" They should say "no I said the number" Say "sorry" and deal them back the same way you did before, reversing their order again. When you get to the original number he/she said take that card (which will be a 6) and show it to the spectator. Count aloud six cards from the bottom of the deck and place those six on top. Ask the spectator to flick the top of the deck and show him/her the top four cards. They will be the aces.
