ChemX: Nuclear Comparison

Welcome to my ChemX! This part of my site is dedicated to one thing: showing you the differences between western nuclear reactors, and the nuclear reactors that are found in Europe and western Asia. The main examples we'll be using were actually both major disasters. Our Western example, Three Mile Island, was a meltdown that occurred, creating a large media buzz, but not harming the human population. On the other hand, our Eastern example, Chernobyl, was a disaster. This was a meltdown that occurred in the former USSR, effecting an estimated 24 million people throughout Europe and Asia, as far west as England, and as far east as China. We'll be going over their basic structures, how they both work, and then we'll be seeing how they're different. Submarine reactors will also be explored, but on a slightly smaller scale compared to the other two.
