[book I've read lately]: Franz Kafka's Metamorphosis and Other Stories, courtesy of Tiangco (fafa! hehe)

[books I want to get my paws on]

  • anything by Bette Bao Lord (except Spring Moon, I've got that already)
    • The Middle Heart
    • Legacies
    • Eighth Moon (I found this short story in a Reader's Digest collection at Book Sale in the SM North Annex a few months ago)
  • ones I've seen at Aeon Books in Loyola Heights
    • Fast Food Nation
    • The Alphabet and the Goddess
  • others
    • The Tale of the Genji
    • Shanghai Baby

[other stuff I want to buy]

  • CDs
    • The Blue Man Group
    • The Dissociatives (Daniel Johns's new band, with Paul Mac. Though I doubt this'll be sold in the Philippines anytime soon.)
  • National Geographic, Discovery Channel or Animal Planet documentaries: Anything involving history, mythology, the environment, technology... well, anything, actually.
  • any of my favorite TV shows on video

[good news] I stumbled upon Discovery Channel's Unsolved History last Tuesday and have since declared it one of my new favorite shows. CSI simply isn't dorky enough for me!

[bad news] If I'd flunked the STS exam that day, it's all Discovery Channel's fault!

[favorites from Film 106]

  • Three Monks: animation short with a simple plot, no dialogue, great music and adorable characters
  • Zhang Yimou's To Live
  • Stephen Chow's King of Comedy: If you liked Shaolin Soccer, you'll love this one
  • Hou Hsiao-hsien's Millennium Mambo: Postmodern, stars Shu Qi

[*some* of the many things that remind me of him]

  • Blueberry cheesecake, crepes a la mode or tomato olivetti at Likha-Diwa
  • Henna tattoos
  • Endless Love: Yes, the Korean soap opera. One of the last times Miguel texted me was to tell me I looked like Jenny, the female lead.
  • Songs he'd sing
    • Nasaan Ka Na: Nyoy Volante
    • Heaven Knows: Rick Price
    • a hupaw version of the Moffatts' If Life is So Short
    • Crazy For You: Madonna; he even sent me the ringtone
  • Songs he made me sing
    • Firewoman: Hungry Young Poets
    • Ode to My Family, Zombie, When You're Gone: the Cranberries
    • Big Mistake: Natalie Imbruglia
    • Fly Away: Lenny Kravitz
    • Till I Found You: Freestyle; our first (and only) duet
    • Idlip: Imago
    • Till My Heartaches End: Passage (?). We were supposed to sing this together.
    • Till They Take My Heart Away
