variables :: mimai at the moment (POSTED 12 March 2004)

[most fun I've had lately] Cave-stuffing and near-nonstop hiking in Mt. Banahaw!

[items I've lost lately]

  • blue Converse sneakers
  • dark blue jazz pants (a hand-me-down from Ella)
  • a white undershirt (a "hand-me-up" from my three-year-old brother, Chase... I kid you not)
  • a yellow and green Kab Scout shirt (a "hand-me-up" from my 12-year-old cousin, Kevin. It was my favorite! *Sob*)
  • two pairs of socks
  • a red bandanna
  • the maroon-and-pink striped panties I bought at the UP Fair 2003!

I was too distracted by all the buko pie I was carrying to notice I left the bag where I'd stashed all my mucky clothes in the jeep back from Banahaw.

[latest favorite accessory] A "rainbow bruise" the size of a Pringles potato chip just below my right knee. I call it that because it's five different colors (purple, red, green, blue and yellow) all at once.

[source of nostalgia] Eating sticky-sweet tamarind out of the box.

[songs stuck in my head] Those Jose Rizal songs the bus played all the way from the Tritran station in EDSA-Kamuning to Lucena. The one that sounds like an Aegis cover and goes "Nabasa mo na ba ang Noli? Ano ang iyong masasabi?" and the one that goes "Wilkommen, Herr Rizal, wilkommen."

[wassup? moments] Being inducted into Pi Gamma Mu, being nominated for Phi Kappa Phi (honor societies, you gotta love 'em), the release of this month's Meg magazine and being nominated for the GMA Network, Inc. President's Medal

[weird thing I've said lately] "Time flies when you're watching gay hobbits."

[weird thing I've heard lately] Ian (the straight one), in Banahaw: "Kung naligo ka na ng gabi, di mo na kailangang maligo sa umaga. Kaya nga gabi ako mag-toothbrush e."

[realizations]

  • I didn't go to 7 out of 8 of my friends' weddings. The only time I went was when I was a bridesmaid.
  • I have yet to taste a wine I like. *blech*

[most disturbing Chinese films I've seen, courtesy of Film 106 class]

  • Joan Chen's Xiu Xiu: The Sent-Down Girl
  • Zhang Yimou's Red Sorghum

[current cravings]

  • Sola iced tea in raspberry
  • Baci Cafe's Fried Vegetarian Lumpia or its Vegetarian Kaldereta

[teas/tisanes I recommend]

  • Celestial Seasonings Bali Black Raspberry
  • Stash Vanilla Nut Creme
  • green tea... that Japanese brand Tita Susan (Alay's mom) buys... which is entirely in Japanese!
  • Lipton Mango Ice Tea (don't you just hate it that they don't put the "d" in Iced Tea?) - Memories of Kitchie and Mojofly!
  • Red Iced Tea from Tokyo Tokyo/Japanese Iced Tea from Lord Stow's (pretty much the same thing)
  • mountain tea from Red and Paul's trip to Sagada
  • chamomile tea
  • chrysanthemum tea ... the one that started it all!
