The inspiration for this camp -- which I love -- came from the purchase of some of Two Dragons civilian captives at Siege of Augusta. My friend Jason and I split two packs, since all poses are identical. Once I saw these captives with their hands bound behind them and trudging head down, I knew I HAD to design a camp for them.
The base is plastic styrene, with a craft foam upper base glued atop it. I bevelled the edges on the front to (along with the flocking) hide the seam. The two large center posts are dowels, while the smaller ones are Craft Stix from Hobby Lobby (bag of 500 for $1.99). I cut out holes in the Craft Foam for the posts and epoxied them into place. The craft foam around the bottom helps hold them securely.
From the rear view, below, you can better see the various other
items of plunder the raiders have collected...a barrel from Stonewyrks,
a crate from RLBPS and an ornamental bead filled with Woodland Scenics "fruit"
-- tiny red beads to simulate tomatoes or apples.
The mounted raider is a horseman from Feudal Castings, the swordsman is an Old Glory Gaul, and the civlians, as I said, are from Two Dragons. I roped the captives together using tiny snips of dental floss (mint waxed, but I don't think it matters!). I flocked it all with Woodland Scenics Turf and mixed grasses.
I was VERY happy with how this one came out. The figures were painted as generically as possible, so this one could be used for just about any era from Classical to Medieval.
