Pagoda camp

Pagoda Camp

This camp was originally constructed for myself to be a generic Asian one. I figured since I was painting up a series of SE Asian armies, I'd need a number of camps. I decided to sell it when I came up with the way to construct a stupa, which I felt was more appropriate than a pagoda for SE Asia.

The pagoda towers and gazebo affair are both ceramic pieces that I purchased when I was in Hong Kong, a few years back. They are a bit out of scale, I realize (the towers probably being closer to 5mm), which is why I put no people on this base. So, the only thing I really constructed on this camp was the stone wall arcing back from the towers, the banner hanging between them, and the crate and barrel miscellanea scattered about (which you really can't see in this photo).

The wall was made by epoxying aquarium gravel on top of each other, then painted. The banner is a snippet from an address label, attached to a wire epoxied onto the inside of a window hole in each tower. The crate is from RLBPS, while the barrel with fruit is a fancy bead from Hobby Lobby filled with railroad scenery "fruit."

The most time consuming part of this camp was painting it. I used a color scheme I saw fairly often in Asia, and think it turned out quite well. I used it as the camp for my Malay army during 2003, replacing it with a stupa one in 2004. Since I didn't really have a use for it anymore, and my friend Dave Zecchini needed a camp for his Samurai army, I decided to part with it. Plus, it was too tall to fit in my figure boxes, and I needed to make special arrangements to transport it each time I used it.

The Pagoda camp was sold to Dave Zecchini for $25 at Warband.
