Tom Graves repeated in 2005 as winner of the Book I/II Tournament. Using a Mithridatic army (Book II/48), he defeated Bob Bogg's Late Imperial Roman (West) in round one, 6-0. In Round 2, he equally dispatched Dylan Fraser's Later Hoplite Greek: Thessalians, 6-0. Round 3's opponent, John Lawitzke's Nubians, managed one element kill, before falling 6-1. The only 3-0 winner after this round, he was matched against the best of the 2-1 players, John Loy, and his Shang Chinese. Tom managed to screw things up by losing 1-6, which left me with three 3-1 players! I simply went by points scored, and Tom's 19 came out on top.
Below are pictures from Friday afternoon's Book I/II OpenTournament.

Book I/II Tournament champion Tom Graves manuevers his Mithridatic against Bob Bogg's Late Imperial Roman (West) army. Despite his stern expression in this photo, Bob is one of the nicest guys you could ever play!

The forces close for that initial clash! The view is from the other side of the table...

Here Tom's world-beaters close in for the kill against John Lawitzke's brand new Nubian army.

Loy's Shang Chinese.
In a later round, Keith Finn's Philistines await the onslaught of Jenny Torbett's New Kingdom Egyptians.

Here Jenny Torbett's terrain constricted Egyptains await the deadly onslaught of John Lawitzke's Nubians. Hmm...guess who set up terrain in this matchup?

Should I or shouldn't I? Jenny checks to see if her Egyptian Blades can close with Bob Bogg's Late Imperial Roman battleline. Her bowmen seem well positioned against his cavalry, but that column of foot doesn't look as promising a target!

In an earlier battle, Bob Boggs' Roman battleline tromps forward against Dylan Fraser's Thessalian Greeks. The Roman tread is so heavy it has caused the hill at the top to shift!

Here Dylan Fraser's Thessalian Greeks make their opening manuevers against Kim Young (right) and his Polybian Roman army.
