NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL 2004 KICKS OFF SEPTEMBER 4th @ BYU
South Bend, IN-- The Fighting Irish came into the NCAA Baseball tournament with a 49-11 record and had been ranked as high as number 5 in the country. However, you might think this was the basketball tournament as many of the higher seeded schools were eliminated in the first round, Notre Dame among them. The Irish dropped their first game against Kent State 2-1 on Friday at Eck Stadium, but rebounded Saturday and showed signs of life with consecutive wins over UC-Irvine and avenging the loss to Kent St. with a 7-1 victory over the Golden Flashes. However, the Irish had their season come to an end Sunday as they dropped another 1 run game 7-6 to Arizona. If any consolation came from the loss, the Irish had four players named to the All Tournament Team. Pitcher- Tom Thornton 1st Baseman- Matt Edwards 2nd Baseman- Steve Sollman Outfielder- Steve Andres
The Irish had 4 players selected to the All Tournament team, including 2B Steve Sollman.
We Honor "The Gipper" The Late Ronald Reagan (1911-2004)

As one of the most loyal fans of the University of Notre Dame, I would like to designate this spot on the Irish Page to the late Ronald Reagan who died Sunday from complications of Alzheimer's. Most of you know Ronald Reagan played George Gipp in the 1940 film "Knute Rockne: All American." We remember Ronald Reagan as "The Gipper" and as the 40th president of the United States. George Gipp of course was the basis for the "Win One for the Gipper" speech that was repeated to the boys by Knute Rockne against Army and is still used today in all of sports.
