Theme: The Olympics in Sydney 2000

The French team so far

The french team's debut in this Olympic tournament was somewhat laborious and disappointing. The match against Korea was a disaster: no defense, attack too weak and too much loss of balls. Nothing to do with a World Vice Champion team!!!

The match against Hungary was better but the backplayers were too nervous in the last 10 minutes: they refused to take responsability for the shooting. Here again, the team lost its match because of the attack weaknesses..

They finally won their 1/4 final's tickets in beating Angola 29 to 27. (no comment about this match...)

Against Rumania and for the group 3rd place, the team regained the defense which allowed it to reach the World Championship final. It was more dense, aggressive and physical (perhaps too much?...). V.Nicolas was still very good. Backplayers Myaro & Lejeune were also better.

Nevertheless, even if this last match was rather reassuring for the team and its supporters (according to the french players and staff), I think they will have to be really better (especially in the attack section, of course and as always) if they want a chance to beat Denmark.
