As i said before, I am amazed at the level of caring that professors have sometimes, particularly this quarter. I am beginning to think that that one reason why NU is distinctive in the world of big research universities--quality of teaching. For example:
Today we had a rather...odd version of my foreign policy class. Basically, It kinda sucked because we kept going off on tangents. So tonight we get this message from our professor on our class discussion board:
"My apologies. History C19 today (Tuesday, April 13) had to be the worst lecture and class I have offered in years. A pathetic explanation on my part. My mind had to be elsewhere. I will try to pick up the broken pieces next Tuesday and make something of them, if you will give me another chance.
In the meantime, you are in charge on Thursday. We will have a grand discussion centering around the three questions I raised last week. Please come with ideas and information. Read everything you can, and I will try to do a better job.
My prof actually apologized for a lame lecture--how cool is that?
In other news, I got a reply from one of my profs to the message that I sent out yesterday. She's a sweet woman. Here's what she wrote:

You have just made my day, JW, my day, my week, my quarter. I'm sorry I missed that performance. Bravo for taking the challenge, using it to create, and to generate energy in yourself and those poor little toads. Big "Yes!"
And big thank you. Hugs, and keep in touch.

Again, how cool is that? It's taken me almost three years, but i am starting to value my Northwestern Education for something other than just the marching band. Bitchin'.
Not presently listening to anything, since i am in a computer lab. ah well.
