New Stuff at memphisevans.com

July, 2008

New stuff will now generally be promoted at the blog as this will allow people to subscribe to it. Here is the final new thing to be promoted here at the newstuff page: An essay on doing commercial music.

June, 2008

I am finally at MySpace! Yes, it is 2008. Why do you ask?

April, 2008

Listen now to the brand new album The Shapely Bottles!

March, 2008

New Poem

Info on MS7's third show.

February, 2008

The all-brand-new, 10 song album is recorded and mixed and will shortly be sent to these people. Naturally, a new mini-website devoted to the project has arisen here at the home site. More will follow shortly.

It is a slow, snowy month here at the website while Memphis actually works very hard in the intermittently functional morass of wires and hard drives to complete a brand new 10 song and/or 35 minute album inspired by Dave Addington's challenge related to this website. However, once the gaping absence of the lyrics to Collaborato Puxatawney's "Prayer Breakfast" was made clear, there was no choice but to corect the oversight.

January, 2008

You should go see this show that caused me to spend several hours writing this essay.

New Stuff, Shows, and perhaps most interestingly, Biography have been updated to reflect the current year.

A poem is new and unironic and, I hope, touching to parents of babies everywhere.

Why do men dominate the music industry? You will not find out from this meandering essay.

Finally! Memphis Evans has thrown in with the "each year's end requires lists" set and declared the 2007 Artist of the Year!

December, 2007

The year ends with a whimper, as I add lyrics for a new song called Cub Cubota and make the past Toys For Tots index pages available at the Great Uncle Helmer index.

The year ends with a bang, as the POWERFUL STATEMENT makes its public debut.

Rocktober, 2007

A new poem (featuring adult language (For that matter, memphisevans.com is not designed or intended for listeners under 18 years of age or social conservatives.)) attempting to integrate the two categories into which I have always put my memories of the 1994 St. Olaf Choir tour occurred to me very rapidly the other day and I wrote it down in about as much time as it took me to write it down. I felt like more of a whole person after I wrote it, like Spock at peace with his dual vulcan and human heritage. It's here now.

(Note: Now you can track the subtle ebb and flow of memphisevans.com over the years by looking at the archived new stuff. It's like this page only much, much longer. What was added when? What has disappeared without you ever seeing it? Is archived new stuff an oxymoron that will cause the internet to self-destruct? Only now can you know for sure.)
