Extracurricular Activities and Hobbies

Truth be told, as a student, I don't have a lot of "free" time. This summer, while I was working, but not taking any courses, I did get to indulge some of my favourite hobbies and activities. I spent some time biking around Ottawa, enjoying the sometimes-good weather and the great scenery. I devoured books from the public library by the bagful. I never went anywhere without my camera. I crisscrossed the country (ok, from Quebec City to Calgary), mostly by air, to attend weddings and a conference. I worked for hours on my relatively few artistic talents. And I never went anywhere without an mp3 player or radio.

This pretty much sums up what I do in the spare time I have, when I have the tools required. Follow the links below to read more about the activities that occupy my mind the most.

Music

I have been an amateur musician since 1988.

Reading

I have been an avid reader since, well, since I first learned how to read. My interests range all over the spectrum- I am the person who will try any genre or any topic once.

Travel

While some might say that this doesn't necessarily qualify as a "hobby", I would disagree. Whether it's to a local town for a day-trip, south of the border to go shopping, or a much grander trip, all travel is an adventure.

Other activities

There are many! Follow the link for a sampling of the things I do in my "spare" time.
