Steve Wilson discovered the sport of sailing in 1995 through the school Outdoor Pursuits System. He enjoyed it so much that he joined the Outdoor Adventure Club based at the Lake immediately after the session finished.
Steve has achieved his National School of Sailing Association (NSSA) Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards (equivalent to RYA Level 2) and his RYA Red Racing Award.
Steve is very competitive and will always have the desire to win, even if he knows that he has no chance of success. Because of this, he always tries to extract the maximum from the boat. Despite this competitiveness, Steve still has time to care and help fellow members of the squad.
Steve says that he is very grateful to have the opportunity to sail in the regattas that he does sail in, and is determined not to let injury hamper him any more than it has so far - he has injured his legs several times while trying so hard to be competitive. |
