Oliver Pattenden discovered the sport like the majority of the members of the club through the school Outdoor Pursuits System. He discovered the sport in 1995 and after the session ended, he joined the club immediately.
Oliver has achieved his National School of Sailing Association (NSSA) Bronze, Silver and Gold (equivalent to RYA Level 2), and his RYA Red Racing Award.
Oliver enjoys sailing because he has had the opportunity to make new friends and enter big regattas - and compete competitively. He likes putting skills that he learns into practice - and by entering the competitions he has this opportunity. On the other aspect of sailing, he is also very keen to try new equipment, such as spinakers and trapezes, and boats, and thus goes to open days at alternative clubs. |
