Spells
It is the task of all wielders of magic to seek an intimate understanding of the powers they possess, to know when the use of such powers is appropriate, and that magic be used as a respected medium through which the magician can improve the quality of both his world and the weave. To this end I have endeavored to further my own experience and connection with the Weave through the creation of unique magics, which I offer as gifts of thanks to Mystra for having gifted me with magical proficiency, and that I now share with you in hopes that you might share them with others.

The Hand of Valor's wizard, Sage Allegorical, has devised several unique spells during his meteoric career. In light of his stated mission to aid in the creation and dissemination of magic, he has been generous enough to share them. He insisted that they be designated as open game content under the OGL.

Protection From Arrows, Greater
Abjuration
Level: Sor/Wiz 5

This spell functions as
protection from arrows, except that the subject gains damage reduction 10/adamantine. Once the spell has prevented a total of 10 points of damage per caster level (maximum 150 points) it is discharged.

Focus: A piece of shell from a toirtoise or turtle.

Material Component: 250 gp worth of diamond dust sprinkled on the target's skin.

Sage�s Kinetic Energy Transference

Level: Sor/Wiz 6

Casting Time: 1 standard action

Duration: 24 hours or until discharged
Saving Throw: Will Negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes

This spell allows half of any physical damage dealt to the caster to be redirected to a high-quality, expensive, mithral shield, which must be worn by the caster (if the caster has the shield strapped to his/her back, this counts as being worn by the caster, and in which case the shield would not inflict a casting failure percentage). For example, if the caster is hit by a physical attack that would normally deal 40 points of damage, 20 points of this damage is redirected to the mithral shield, which would ignore 15 points of damage because of hardness, but the remaining 5 points would be considered damage to the shield, which would now have 5 hp remaining. Once the shield has taken enough damage to be destroyed, the shield is beyond repair and the spell ends. Likewise, if the shield is lost, dropped, or otherwise removed from the caster�s person the spell duration ends. The shield can be repaired, unless its hit points have been brought to zero.

If the caster is simultaneously protected by other damage-reducing spells (such as
stoneskin), the damage reduction applies before damage is calculated for the caster and his shield. This spell overlaps with (does not stack with) shield other.

Material Component: a light, mithral shield costing at least 1,009 gp.

Sagmo�s Ray of Lower Spell Resistance

Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./level)
Target: 1 creature
Duration: 1 round/level
Casting Time: 1 standard action

Spell Resistance: Yes
Saving Throw: Will negates

After casting this spell, the wizard can shoot a thin, gray ray at one target to lower that target�s spell resistance. The wizard must succeed at a ranged touch attack. If the ray hits the target, the target fails its will save, and the target�s spell resistance does not negate the spell, the target�s spell resistance is reduced by 1 + 1 per 2 caster levels for the duration of the spell.

Focus: A used up, no-longer-magical wand.

Sagmo�s Ray of Lower Spell Resistance, Greater

Level: Sor/Wiz 7
Range: Medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Target: 1 creature
Duration: 1 min./level
Casting Time: 1 standard action

Spell Resistance: No
Saving Throw: Will negates

After casting this spell, the wizard can shoot a thin, gray ray at one target to lower that target�s spell resistance. The wizard must succeed at a ranged touch attack. If the ray hits the target and the target fails its will save, the target�s spell resistance is reduced by 1 + 1 per caster level (Maximum +20) for the duration of the spell.

Focus: A used up, no-longer-magical wand.

Sagmo�s Sneaky Spell, Lesser

Saving Throw: Will negates

After casting this spell, the wizard is granted the ability to move as stealthily, silently, and as alert as a rogue. The target gains a +5 competence bonus on Move Silent and Hide skill checks, and a +2 competence bonus on Spot and Listen skill checks for the duration of the spell.

Material Component: a 1� x 1� square of black silk .

Sagmo�s Sneaky Spell
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 3
Range: Touch
Target: 1 creature
Duration: 1 min./level
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V / M / S
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)
Saving Throw: Will negates

After casting this spell, the wizard is granted the ability to move as stealthily, silently, alert, and agile as a skilled rogue. The target gains a +10 competence bonus  to Move Silent and Hide skill checks, a +5 competence bonus  to Spot and Listen skill checks, and gains the benefits of the Evasion feat for the duration of the spell.

Material Component: a 1� x 1� square of black silk .

Sagmo�s Sneaky Spell, Greater
Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 5
Range: Touch
Target: 1 creature
Duration: 1 min./level
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V/M/S
Spell Resistance: Yes
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)

After casting this spell, the target is granted the ability to move as stealthily, silently, alert, and as agile as a shadow dancer. The target gains  a +15 competence bonus to Move Silent and Hide skill checks, a +10 competence bonus to Spot and Listen skill checks, and gains the benefits of the Improved Evasion feat for the duration of the spell. In addition, the target's Hide skill now operates as if using the Hide in Plain Sight ability possessed by the shadow dancer prestige class.

Material Component: a 1� x 1� square of black silk and any gemstone worth at least 50 gp

Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 5
Targets: 1 creature/level

This spell funcions as
lesser Sagmo's sneaky spell, except as noted above.

Material Component: a 1� x 1� square of black silk.
