| For every moment the heroes are on stage, vanquishing evil, unearthing lost lore, and wrestling with moral, political, and existential dilemmas, there must be another moment when they cannot be in the spotlight. These are the cutaway scenes, the "Meanwhile..." moments, the times when the movie must pause to inform its audience of the overarching plot. These interludes show the world around the Hand of Valor: friends, enemies, sinister plots and unexpected aid, all seen from the point of view of the supporting cast. The Ethics of Prophecy: Argentus and his "familiar" Nic monitor the Hand of Valor as they cut their teeth on their first dungeon: the Gauntlet. The Lords of Terror: The Inner Circle of Zhentarim discuss the failure of their plans in Deepingdale and this new thorn in their sides: the Hand of Valor. He Who Would Be King: The Storm King wrestles with madness as he is approached by Zhentarim envoys seeking an alliance. Rogue Disciple: Thraxata becomes a Disciple of Ashardalon, playing a dangerous game with the Cult of the Dragon. The Cuckoo: The treacherous vrock meets with his overlord--a mysterious being known as "the Cathezar"--and plots the resurgence of the Cult of Ashardalon. The Price of Valor: Ifateyu Jaziri, former member of the Hand of Valor, tries desperately to keep his grip on sanity as he withstands horrific tortures at the hands of an unknown enemy.
