Repositorium Arcana |
Magic itself is not art, just as sound itself is not music, yet wielders of magic are akin to artists and composers, drawing upon the Weave for magic as their means of expression as they paint their masterpieces inspired by Mystra, even as they grew to understand their magical medium through the wisdom of Azuth.
Love magic itself. Use reason as your approach to magic, which can be examined and reduced to its component parts through study and meditation. Maintain calm and use caution in your spellcasting and magic use to avoid making mistakes that even magic cannot undo. Strive to use magic less as your powers develop, for often the threat or promise of its use outstrips its actual performance. Conduct yourself humbly, not proudly, while being mindful of this. Use magic deftly and efficiently, not carelessly and recklessly. Seek always to learn and create new magic. Teach the wielding of magic and dispense learning throughout Faerun that use and knowledge of magic may spread. Live and teach the idea that with magical power comes grave responsibility. Learn every new spell you discover and make a copy for the temple library. Do not hoard your knowledge, and encourage creativity in magic in all ways and at all times. --Sage Allegorical at the First Convocation of Artisans 18 Eleasis, the Year of Rogue Dragons (1373 DR) |

Mission Statement The mission of Repositorium Arcana is to create and support a network of informants, operatives, wizards, clerics, friends, and allies whose driving purpose is to seek out hidden or lost magical lore and magical items for preservation and study; to thwart the movements of magical tyrants who give magic a disagreeable reputation; and to use its resources to craft unique magical items and spells for distribution throughout Faerun. Hierarchy and Title Descriptions All members of the Repositorium Arcana are known colloquially as Artisans. The following are more specific titles based on level of accomplishment in the Art and standing within the organization. Administrators Headmaster : Overseer of all of aspects, members, and leaders of Repositorium Arcana. Chief Counselor: Primary supporter of the Headmaster, serving as Steward of Repositorium Arcana in the Headmasters absence. Apprentice : Personal pupils of the Headmaster, representing a select group of Wizards of varying levels of advancement that have displayed extraordinary mastery and understanding of the Art, and that have proven to be particularly loyal to Repositorium Arcana ideals. Proof of Membership Rings These non-magical, though well-made rings are only given to members of Repositorium Arcana. Each ring, referred to as Insignia, bears the Rune of Repositorium Arcana, and is made of a certain type of metal and set with a certain type of stone in order to display rank within Repositorium Arcana, as well as proof of membership. Pupils wear copper rings, Lecturers wear silver rings, Apprentices and the Chief Counselor wear gold rings, and the Headmaster wears a platinum ring. The stones* set in the rings represent the various levels of expertise within these groups. All Pupil's stones are small, and only worth 50-90 gp each. Lecturer stones are slightly larger and worth 100-140 each. Administrator stones are larger still: Apprentice stones are worth 250 gp, Chief Councillor stones 350 gp, and Headmaster stones 500 gp. Rune of Repositorium Arcana This is the symbol of Repositorium Arcana. The symbol itself is a continuous line, woven together into a loose knot. The continuous line represents the unity shared by the Artisans and the knot represents them being tied together by their common ideals. The looseness of the knot is to show that the Repositorium Arcana seeks to be able to adjust itself and its methods with the worlds changing ways. The symol is shadowed to say that the magic known and wielded by all wizards is but a shadow of that known and wielded by Mystra and Azuth. Within the symbol is the letter S, which is in tribute to the Repositorium Arcanas founder, Sage Allegorical. Official Robes Each member of Repositorium Arcana is also given robes that they are expected to wear when acting as an open representative of the organization or when in the Repositorium Arcana headquarters. Each robe has a certain color theme meant to convey rank within the order. Headmaster: white robes with blue-white, silver-laced trim, and with the Rune of Repositorium Arcana embroidered on the back in blue-white, silver-laced thread. Chief Counselor: deep-blue robes with blue-white, silver-laced trim, and with the Rune of Repositorium Arcana embroidered on the back in blue-white, silver-laced thread. Apprentices: blue-white robes with silver trim, and with the Rune of Repositorium Arcana embroidered on the back in silver thread.
