Enjoy light local and regional refreshments and guided tours of West High. The Nostalgia, Memorial and Military Rooms will be open as well. Reunion Welcome Reception is sponsored by classmate Sue Durkin. [R]
Reunion Nostalgia, Military, and Memorial Rooms – we need a Nostalgia Room Host to help plan
Take some time to browse the three Reunion Rooms set up at West High. The Nostalgia room will have items from our days in high school triggering memories many of us have forgotten about, and others we continue to cherish. The Military Room will showcase all of our classmates who have made the choice to serve in the Military, protecting our country and the freedoms of us and our families. The Memorial Room will offer a place to reflect on our classmates who are no longer with us. Six lost classmates in total, we hope to have photos sent in, along with copies of obituaries. Rooms will be open Friday, Saturday and possibly Sunday; on Saturday these will be open to Friends of the Class. [R]
Reunion Kick-off - still needs an event host
Sit back and enjoy a fun, satirical look at the time we endured during our high school years - you may just see some familiar faces - and perhaps your own, blushing. [R]
Wild West Reunion Hoe Down BBQ
It's the wild WEST for the night. Come kick up your spurs, toss around stories of the old days and enjoy a western barbeque under the stars. Dress is strongly encouraged as Western, on the Ranch Cowboy/Cowgirl. [R]
The Breakfast Club
Greet the morning, your hunger and fellow classmates in our Reunion Hospitality Room at the Radisson Saturday and Sunday morning for a light breakfast. Have there or pack it to go. Children are allowed in the hospitality rooms only until 3PM each day and only with their parents. Breakfasts sponsored by classmate Theresa Jamison. [R]
Memorial Service
Take the time to join fellow classmates as we acknowledge those missing from our alumni rooster forever. A service to say goodbye, reflect on our lives and leave appreciating their lives and now feeling better days are ahead. Classmate roles include officiating, and vocal and musical performance. Friends of the class, as well as families and friends of our six lost classmates welcome. Memorial Service sponsored by classmate Teresa Cramer. [R] [ff]
Middle School Tours
Take two steps back in time to our days of innocence. Both CFA and Painted Post Middle School (we hope) will be accommodating us for a Tour of the School. CFA was built by Howard Greenley in 1922 and is listed as one of the most endangered properties in NY State. Following the walking tours, we will gather on the grounds for very light refreshments and reminiscing. [ff] [r]
Reunion Picnic
Feel the grass beneath your toes (shoes) and stretch those dormant muscles. Enjoy games for the kids and adults, as well as other fun activities. Our picnic lunch will be traditional grilled lunch of dogs, burgers, cold salads and drinks. Bring your racket for the 6 courts right there; your swimsuit for the pool, and your glove, stick, ball, whatever to make the day full of fun and challenge. Picnic lunch served 12-1. Class photo for ALL at 1:10 [R]
Official Class photo - still needs an event host
We will all gather at 1:00 for a 1:10 Class Photo for ALL after our Picnic Lunch (those NOT attending Picnic should still be at Picnic Grounds at 1PM for Class Photo). We will take photos of a few groups; Graduating Class 1986, All 1986, One with Guests and families, etc.. These will be available in Digital Format for you to order as traditional photos via mail, following the reunion. [R]
Field of Alumni - still needs an event host
Following our picnic lunch Friends of the Class are invited to join us for the rest of the afternoon in the West High Field. Spread the word and direct them to register on this website at this [link]. For a small fee, Friends of the Class are welcome to join in the Field of Alumni and the Saturday morning Memorial Service - taking advantage of the time and resources which brought all of 1986 together.
Private Glass-Fusing Session at CMOG Studio
Join classmates and their guests/families for this unique Glass Blowing experience. Glass Fusing is right for all ages and you will make your own unique glass piece to take home.Private Docent tour of CMOG
In 2000, the internally know Corning Museum of Glass underwent an impressive redesign by award-winning NYC architect and design firm. The role of Corning Glass the past two decades have been quite diverse. This engaging, informative and entertaining tour with a private docent will capture all the unique and often-missed elements. If you've been before - you really have not been now. A great tour for all ages.
Private Docent tour of Rockwell Museum of Western Art
What luck that the Ansel Adams exhibit coincides with our Reunion Weekend. In addition to the impressive and unique house collection at the Rockwell Museum of Art, the Ansel Adams exhibit will offer breath-taking photographs of the United States. Know for his Black and White nature photography this is an excellent opportunity to see them up close and with the knowledge of a private docent.
Reunion Dinner, Dessert and Dancing Soiree
This event starts with a relaxed cocktail hour with light appetizers preceding our plated dinner served inside a unique (sh-h-h) Corning setting. The menu is comprised of only local summer fare, starting with a cold soup and then entrees choices of NY steak, Rainbow Trout and a Moosewood-influenced Vegetarian Neapolitan in a dairy-free puff pastry. Each entrée is enhanced with sauces or glazes of local wines, fruits or berries. Dinner is served with a choice of wines. Following dinner we proceed to another room for light and refreshing desserts, cash bar and booty dancing all night long to the United Booty Foundation. Our choices for this event focused on local fare and a setting to encourage the most time mixing with classmates. Dress to Impress. Shuttle available with pickup up and return to Radisson and Centerway Square Clocktower (parking garage), sponsored by classmate Corbin Bennett. Non-alcoholic beer and drinks complimentary sponsored by classmate Kathy Blencowe.
Reunion Dessert and Booty Dancing Extravaganza - still needs an event host
Join classmates after dinner for an array of light and refreshing desserts, cash bar and a full night of booty dancing to the United Booty Foundation in a cool and unique Corning venue. Dress to impress. Shuttle available with pick up and return to Radisson and Centerway Square Clocktower (parking garage), sponsored by classmate Corbin Bennett. Non-alcoholic beer and drinks complimentary, sponsored by classmate Kathy Blencowe
Back to the Future Reunion Farewell - still needs an event host
Recap the weekend and learn about the next reunion - and who's planning it. Also be there for the launch of the WHS Class of 1986 Alumni Association; sponsoring an event every year in Corning; and in regions throughout the US where there is critical mass of alumni. The Association will also maintain the website so alumni in non-reunion years may stay in touch, especially as we get older and less in numbers. Bid farewells and get those numbers and get emails you intended to all weekend long. Our class will give a Reunion Gift to WHS via Principal Jon Wood (WHS 1985) as a token of our appreciation for his help, the students’ help and the use of the school. [R]
Splash - still needs an event host
Day at Keuka Lake. Take a guided ride on the Reunion Alumni Pontoon boat. Park in Hammondsport at the Head of the Lake Park, step aboard and opt to step off at a lakeside location we secure for swimming, lunching and relaxing or perhaps at the Waterfront Restaurant and Bar for their Sunday Clammin & Jammin with live bands on the deck. You will be picked up where you were dropped before 5PM; whenever you wish. [R]
Weird Science: Waterski, Wakeboard, Tube or Run-about on Keuka Lake - needs an event host
Lance Locey (WHS 1987) is again offering WHS 1986 alumni this Reunion pricing to spend sometime skiing, boarding, tubing or just cruising on Keuka. Lessons available. [ff]
