Beach Life

The toughest part about this year is being so far from the beach!  You can get really used to its sounds, smells and lifestyle.  Having finished my second Masters class i thought that it would be a really wise idea to get to the beach and chill for a session.  Five of us decided to head out for the long weekend, then when Thursday got added for protests it was on.  We headed to a small fishing village of Crucita on the Pacific.  And one thing is sure...I'll be heading back!

After an all night busride i was more than a little excited to be sitting, refreshed after a dip, overlooking the beach ready for a big time breakfast!
John didn't seem to mind the idea either!
Yikes, I seem to be getting a little a head of myself...apologies.  Let me introduce you to the excursions all-star cast!

Okay now that the important stuff is done, you can take a look at the place that we were forced to suffer through this unscheduled holiday.  It really was difficult.
We rented an apartment for all of us.  The balcony was the best part.  Here Anne tries to figure out why we live in the city?

The seafood dinners were definitley a highlight for everyone...well almost, vegitarian food was hard to come by.

John who is also known as TC, has the ability to clear a room at whim.

Jordan tries to explain the benefits of vegetarianism to us when a huge fish dinner costs $2, and shrip is $3.  He didn't have a whole lot of luck.

It would hardly be dinner without dessert!

The wind up here was insane, wish i had a kite rig!!  Maybe next time?  It is a hot spot for jumping off this cliff with a parachute.  We came up here to give it a go, but the wind which is safe between 8 and 15 was blowing at over 30.

Joined by our friend Rosalie from Quito.  We all pile in for a ride up to a great vista!

John didn't like the view much though.

You just have to love the late night swims!  When the tide is high.
Empty Classroom
Much different then Cabarete everyone in this town is asleep by 10.
There is currently an election going on in Ecuador, the two remaining candidates are worlds apart.  One a poor, socialist with a strong military background and the other one of the richest men in all of South America.  Neither are qualified and many people I have spoken with are choosing to destroy their ballot (showing up at the polls  is mandatory here) rather than pick which is the "lesser of two evils."  Gutierrez the militant cites Chavez as a mentor and has talked about a intense wealth restructuring program.  Should we lose all our money in the program the five of us have decided to move to Wisconsin, eat cheese and get fat.  All are invited to our home we got a great deal on it!

With such wicked people and so many goodtimes, a return to La Crucita in the near future is guaranteed!
Thanks guys for a wickedly good time!
