Welcome to Spudnet - the meetingplace for all you spuds and
duds
Yahoo has announced that it is closing Geocities later this year.
I will be moving before then, but I'm not sure where.
Enter with care...
Hi I'm Marilyn and welcome to spudnet, a place for our
families to meet
and communicate with each other. If you're not family, come on in
anyways
and become a part of our family too.
Be sure to check out the latest and greatest of the spuds.
Take a peek
and see if you are there. I'm constantly adding new names to my main
Shively
database. I updated the Garman, Roote and Van Leuven databases just
before
the move. If you're not there now, you may find your line in the
future.
So bookmark it!
One barren
front yard.
Back of the house.
We are finally in our new home. It has been a blessing. We all fit
comfortably into all the space we have. Each child has their own room
when Emily is at school. When she is home, Micah and Barrett share.
Adam has finally got his own room. He had to share ever since Micah was
born. It was hard on the three giants living in one room.
Gary is still happily working for Idaho Fish and Game. He enjoys his
job. It has given the opportunity to find old friends and missionary
companions.
Gary is now serving as the 1st assistant in the ward High Priests
group. Marilyn is serving as the visiting teaching district coordinator
and also does the ward bulletin. Adam is the 1st counselor in the
Elders Quorum Presidency in the singles branch.
Marilyn’s health has been iffy again this year. Last year it was B12
anemia. This year was something new. In July, she was diagnosed with
iron anemia. Once again, it left her weak and tired. The foot problem
was reaggravated, but it was much worse. The ligaments were swollen and
tender to the touch. She’s on high strength anti-inflammatories and
getting better. She was leading an “exercise” class for seniors called
“Fit and Fall-proof.” It was designed to help seniors with their
balance, strength and mobility to help prevent falls.
Barrett (15) is a sophomore and doing well. He is now 6'1" and still
growing. He looks like a Stedman. He loves reading and can often be
found with a book or two as his side. He has qualified for the academic
bowl team at Marsh Valley. He is our king of trivia. He would like to
be a history teacher when he is finally done growing.
Micah (17) is a senior and looking forward to graduation. He is 6' tall
and still a twig. Both boys are delivering the newspaper (with Marilyn)
and saving money for college. Micah doesn’t have any idea of what he
wants to do in the future.
Emily (20) is a junior at BYU-Idaho on the summer/fall track majoring
in art history. She has finally found her niche. Her art skills are
growing. It’s still difficult, but she has managed her ADD better this
year with the help of tutors. She’ll get a chance to visit San Diego
for the holidays when she travels back for a wedding.
Adam (21) is a handsome young man. He is still working for the
Pocatello school district as a special needs assistant working with
autistic high schoolers. His second job working for a child development
center came to an end when they closed in the fall. Next year in the
spring, he will be the assistant tennis coach for the third year. Last
year, they took first place in the state finals. Tennis is still his
great love. He’s been thinking of college and trying to get some money
saved. The mission is on a back burner for now.
We got a kitty to patrol the yard for mice. She is a kitten
from a local
stray cat that we have fallen in love with. She is very personable and
wants to come into the house and be with us. She meows when we are up
and
she can hear us. The dogs are still getting to know her and vice-versa.
After she batted Taffy's nose the first week, she's been friendlier to
the dogs. S'More has been
kind of hostile to the cat. When Truffles moves fast, S'More's herding
instincts kick in. Taffy and Oreo are still leery of her. Speaking of
the dogs, they are finally adjusting to the new
house. We got a spot-bot to take care of the animal accidents. In the
beginning, it was a daily thing. Now maybe once a week.
