Please
use the best possible workmanship in your quilt top. You will
be most pleased with the quilting if your quilt top is as flat
as possible. Precise piecing and applique produce a flat quilt.
A quilt top that is not flat will have some puckering when it
is quilted.
Your
quilt will be quilted in the condition that it is received. For
the best possible quilting, please follow the following procedure
before you drop your quilt off or send it in the mail:
- Clip
all loose threads.
- Iron
all seams flat when piecing.
- Iron
the quilt top when it is finished.
- Make
sure your quilt top is clean.
- Sew
borders on as accurately as possible to prevent wavy borders
that pucker.
- Measure
borders accurately and pin in place.
If
your quilt top isn't perfect:
- Expect
some puckering if the quilt top isn't flat*.
- Try
ironing with steam to 'steam it into submission' (if using 100%
cotton).
- Re-sew
problem areas (e.g. wavy borders).
- High-loft
batting is more accomodating than low-loft or cotton batting.
This will produce the puffiest quilt, much like a comforter.
*Maria
quilts to the best of her ability and will try to ease your quilt
to make it as flat as possible when quilting. However, expect
some puckering if the quilt top is warped or 'wavy'.
