GOSSIP'S: ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

One really has to wonder
what makes such cold hearts beat.
With souls as black as thunder,
and minds so incomplete.
They envy any beauty
they see in someone else,
and set out to destroy them
cause they really hate themselves.
LIES: ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

Life goes on around me
happiness and grief
I keep to myself
tomorrow may bring relief.

My memories are black enough.
Doesn't anyone out there
know the meaning of love?

You're proud of yourself.
Think you're smarter than me.
Acting like a friend
just to hustle me.

You beat me with lies.
Are you happy with what
I honestly earned.
Oh black heart of odious spurn.

So many suffer because of you
I am sorry for them
and I'm sorry for you.
How miserable an cold
your heart truly is.
To destroy a friend
with unprovoked malice.

Love goes on around me.
Friendship everywhere.
Now I am grateful
for the experience.
Greed is never fair.
Doesn't anyone out there
know the meaning of love.

FRIENDSHIP: ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

Am I a foolish sort
to believe most folks are good?
I give those I trust to be friends
my absolute fullest support.

Indeed I am a foolish sort,
give all a fair shake, I say.
Even though my family may worn me,
I go out on a limb anyway.

I can't bare to think a souls lonely.
I doesn't seem fair not to try.
Regardless of past reputations,
there must be some good deep inside.

So I have given my friendship to many
and had it thrown back in my face.
But for those who have chose to accept it
God know I will never replace.

SOME DREAMS JUST CAN'T WAIT:
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie ©

It isn't very often
I take just for myself.
When I see something I like
I usually go without.
It's not that I'm looking.
I see no point in greed.
However every now and then
I satisfy a need.

I care for my necessities.
They're quiet simple need.
Some say I'm too particular
and I should act more free.
Some things are far to special
to do when there's a doubt.
However every now and them
I step out and I scout.

Some say I'm much to fussy
to give love a fair chance.
They say I must be crazy
to turn down each advance.
I don't know who is wrong or right.
To me I must be true.
However every now and then
I meet someone like you.

Please don't make this hard on me.
I had to let you know.
And should you find some time you're free
I wish you'd let me know.
We could meet some place nice
and pass the time away.
See every now and then I find
and dream that just can't wait.

THIEF OF HEARTS ©
Music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

What is the thief of hearts?
Utopia is sweet disguise.
Illusion is how it starts,
but how is it recognized?
Slick is the thief of hearts.
He has you figured out from the start.
All alone and torn apart,
a thirsty barren heart.
Looking for a friend, someone to trust.
Along comes the thief of hearts,
and hand you free samples
of hard core drugs.
He gives you booze and crack cocaine,
a little acid every now and again.
Pretty soon you think you're in love.
And believe they hide your shame.
You're new buddy is the thief of hearts
and so you play the game.
With your money and your heart,
your troubles return
as the buzz goes away.

Charming as a thief can be,
it is to trick you to be his customer.
The thief of hearts is not a friend.
He knows you will be back for more,
He makes his move
when you're on the mend.

Eighteen Wheeler: ©
song/music Mary Theresa Kristie

Eighteen wheeler are you out there
and do you think of me,
remembering my loving like I remember you?
Are you dreaming while your driving?
Do you see me in your mind?
Eighteen wheeler are you thinking of,
the girl you left behind.

Eighteen wheeler can you see me,
looking up at you?
Can you see the loving in my eyes,
looking back at you?
Do you see me while you driving?
Am always on your mind?
Eighteen wheeler are you thinking of,
the girl you left behind?

Cause I'm a hot blooded woman with
a loving appetite.
I'll be, tossing and turning in my
lonely bed all night.
I'll be, dreaming while your driving
but I'll swear that I'm awake,
making love to my trucking man
in another place.

Eighteen wheeler can you hear me,
whispering to you all the tender loving things
I want to do with you?
Can you hear me while your driving?
Do I soothe your weary mind?
Eighteen wheeler are you thinking of,
the girl you left behind?

Cause I'm a hot blooded woman
with a loving appetite.
I'll be, tossing and turning in
my lonely bed all night.
I'll be, dreaming while your driving
but I'll swear that I'm awake,
Making love to my trucking man
in another place.

Framing Clowns ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

You can't see the painting
if you're standing in the frame.
Love is blind enough
when your heart's gone up in flames.
And you never seem to realize
until it's far too late,
how much of them was in disguise,
blue love's a sad mistake.

Oh, isn''t it amazing
how you cannot see the painting
when you're in the frame?
And isn't it confusing
to find that you are loosing,
it's a crying shame.

You can't believe those eyes
could tell so many lies
and it's all been a game.
You still give it all you got
cause you really care allot
for a dying flame.

You will find it quite amazing
if you step out of the painting
and just turn around.
Tell your heart to be still.
It's a bitter pill
now look it up and down...
scan that clown

FLUID POETRY:
©music/song Mary Theresa Kristie

A Song is fluid poetry
that bathes ones heart in chemistry.
and soothes our fears
with tender words
taking us to different worlds
of love.

Love and pain and memories
of broken hearts and shattered dreams,
of life and all its mysteries,
so many very special needs and wants.

Songs that make a body move,
like gospel songs,
rhythm and blues,
rock and roll ,and country do.

They send their message through the air
to anyone who stops to hear
a song.

Where Are the CHILDREN? ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie
I saw her just standing alone by the street,

and as I approached her she started to speak.
She seemed very lonely so I stopped for a while.
She spoke of the days when her life used to smile.

Her eyes were the saddest that I'd ever seen.
Her voice seemed to crack
as she mentioned their names.
She spoke of her children.
She said she had five.
It was then that I noticed the tears in her eyes.

Oh where are the children?
Why haven't they called?
I wrote them all letters.
Haven't heard form them at all.
She spoke of a dream where God takes her away.
She must see her children, before judgment day.

Two boy and three girls moved away one by one.
Husbands and wives now with daughters and sons.
They pay for a room in an old nursing home.
Say she'd be happier with folks aged like her own.

She said she was sorry she hadn't meant to cry.
She just needs her children so in peace she can die.
I bent down and kissed her. I wished she were mine,
She trembled and thanked me for giving her my time.

Oh where are the children? Why haven't they called?
I wrote them all letters, haven't heard from them at all.
She spoke of a dream where God took her away.
She must see her children, before judgment day.

Riding Down the Highway:
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie ©

Riding down the highway, your way or my way,
on our way to anywhere at all.
Cruising like a rubber raft floating down a river fast,
watching little world go by.
Have you seem what I have seen,
things that leave you wondering;
who looses all those shoes anyway?
Stylish pumps or mountain boots,
no one seems to give a hoot.
Where is the body wearing the mate?

Riding down the highway, your way or my way,
on our way to anywhere at all.
Cruising like a rubber raft floating down a river fast,
watching little world go by.

Darn Fool Heart ©
music/song Mary Theresa Kristie

Inside out, upside down,
topsy tervy round and round.
Darn fool heart won't settle down.
Maybe we should fool around.

Backwards, forwards,
this way and that.
Don't know where my fool heart's at.

Need you baby, wish you would,
cuddle with me I feel real good.

Twirling, whirling, faster and faster.
Fool heart be still, not my disaster.

Want you babe, to stay with me.
Better hurry up and marry me.

Well, inside out, upside down.
Topsy, tervy round and round.
Gonna buy me a wedding gown.
Twirling, whirling, faster and faster
Hearts beating together forever after.

Emily's Dad ©

Emily's dad is a mountain of a man.
He could have easily lined for the Bears.
With his coal blue eyes and his auburn hair,
he could have charmed the birds right out if the air.
But he had to let that part of him die,
so he could kill and try to survive.
For four long years he was sure he was dead.
And all of those memories remain in his head.

Emily's dad is a man made of fire.
He can burn you with rage or warm you with desire.
He's just now starting to be able to sleep,
instead of passing out so the memories won't creep.
His temper is triggered by a very fine hair.
He can slap you stupid without spilling his beer.
Emily's dad is a brave loyal man
I wish he'd never seen Vietnam.

Emily's dad lives just across town.
He has not faith since his country let him down.
"It's your patriotic duty!" so said Uncle Sam.
"Go over there and fight, son. Kill everyone you can."
Vietnam veterans were made fools of.
They suffered, they died for their countries love.
When they came home they were showered with shame.
If that war was wrong why should our men take the blame.

Emily's dad was a drinking man.
He'd been that way since Vietnam.
He's very proud and he's kind of shy.
He is the apple of his daughters eyes.

Mostly he sits alone and he broods.
He's a man of memories, he's a man of moods.
Yes Emily's dad is a drinking man...
I want him to know that we understand.

SHADOWS AND LIGHT:
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie ©

Somewhere in the shadows
lurks a malice twitch.
Somewhere in the darkness
whines and evil bitch.

Somewhere in such fine disguise
she spews her blasphemy.
Somewhere in the black of night
she planned to make me leave.

But shinning bright is a candle
that only I can see
and with it's light I'll handle
each slice she cuts from me.

Shadows must yield to light.
I will shine with victory.
They will find out what I'm made of
and be silenced, cause I'm me.

My reward will be in showing
how it is I have survived.
I've done it with His grace
With his love I will revive

Making It Right. ©
music/song
Mary Theresa Kristie
Inspired as the result of several lucid dreams
visits from Elvis Presley.

You say you loved me, you even cried
the day you learn that I had died
From then till now, when you visit my grave,
you look up to God and lie in His Face.

You did me once, you did me twice.
I'm not ashamed. No need to hide.
I see you standing at my grave
then walk away rich , living my life.

Justice is due, God save your soul.
You did me wrong when you had control.
Now I'm in heaven, not in hell.
God save your soul, it's time to tell.

The things you say are not the same,
as what goes on inside your brain.
I know the truth, man was I blind.
I know what happened and I know why.

You did me once, you did me twice,.
then to my face you'd treat me nice.
You made me think I had control.
The truth be know I lost my mind.

No grace will glow within your heart,
till y'all confess your dirty part;
in my untimely death.

Save yourself, show some remorse.
Make it right around the world.
God answered my prayers

(He had not called.) He rescued my soul
I could not take anymore.

You did me once, then again and again.?
Justice is due my loyal friends!
I see you standing at my grave;
and walk away living
on my remains.

Rose of Foes ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

The rose is an exquisite flower,
its fragrance draws you near.
Its blossoms are bewitching,
with loveliness so rare.

Beware however of the rose.
Its beauty is deceiving.
For when you reach to pluck a rose,
its thorns can leave you bleeding.

And so it is my fair weather friend
were to me as a rose;
for when I reached for the beauty within,
I was pricked by the thorn of foes.

Night Crawler ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

Something walked over my hand
too big to be a bug.
I bolted upright in my bed,
then heard a thump on the rug.
Why is the light switch way over there?
Oh what if I step on it?

Then I recalled my reading lamp.
Oh what if one's on the switch.
How many could there be,
I thought
. Was too dark to see a thing.
My heart was pounding with all its might.
I could hear it echoing.

Well I mustered up all the gumption I had
and stood up on my bed.
I shook my blanket just in case
and wrapped it around my head.
As my eyes began to adjust
I could make out where things were.
There  at the foot of my bed
was my fishing pole with lure.

With the grace of a magician
I cast the wall switch on.
And wouldn't you just know it,
I was in fact alone.

Past, Present, Future: ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

The past is our youth, our mistakes.
No use fighting over it.
No use living there.
It is our experience,
our education... learn from it.

Today is all we really have,
our only chance.
No use fighting over it.
No use being bitter.

Take care with what you say and do,
for you can never excuse your regrets.

The future is a gift for our dreams.
No use fighting over it.
No use trying to get there too fast.
Haste will just spoil the view.

GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN: ©
music/poem Mary Theresa Kristie

I didn't want anyone on my mind,
messing around with my heart.
I didn't want anyone wanting me,
so I feel like I'm falling apart.

Would the pleasure be worth the pain?
They say things get smoother.
Going against the grain...

I didn't want anyone touching me
or make me dream about making love.
Then you came along and disarmed me
being everything I've ever dreamed of.

Would the pleasure be worth the pain?
They say things get sharper
going against the grain...

I didn't want to take a chance on you.
This kind of clicking doesn't happen every day.
I like you so much I want to love you.
What else can I say.

The pleasure is worth the pain.
They say things get stronger
going against the grain.

Smoother...sharper...stronger
going against the grain.
