Makai no Tobira- Terms

A guide to various Yuu Yuu Hakusho terms.

1. Ability- A power sleeping within someone that is specific to the user. Usually, abilities are non-offensive skills, and are support skills. An ability of a person is usually determined by their interests. For example, Kaitou Yuu is an expert at languages, so his power is Taboo. Ability�s are awakened by some kind of disturbance in the fabric between the Demon World Makai and the Human World Ningenkai. An ability�s characteristics usually affect the size of the territory in which these powers are usable in, but not necessarily.
2. Territory- The area in which an ability is used. Territories can be expanded at the will of the user, and can be quite large. A territory�s size is often determined by the ability. For example, Hagiri Kaname�s ability, Sniper, would have a larger range than Makihara Sadome�s ability, Gourmet. Sometimes, abilities are not accompanied by territories, such as Sensui�s Dark Angel.
3. Resshuken- The breaking kick fist style. A style using the legs for both offense and blocking with the arms. By using the arms to block, the enemy is thrown off balance, and then a kick routes the enemy. Resshuken is one of the hardest styles to learn, and is the strongest of all martial arts.
4. Reikai Tantei Tool Kit- A kit of tools used by a Spirit Detective. There are various tools in this kit, including various seal, whistles, spyglasses, and other various objects used to hunt demons.
5. Black List Chapter- A top-secret tape the Spirit World has gathered of all of humanity�s crimes. It�s a tape that is many hours long, and will turn any human who sees it against humanity. Sensui stole this tape and disappeared for 10 years. It was later recovered and ended up in Kurama�s possession. The tape was destroyed by Hiei, who had wanted the tape for years.
6. Yonjigen Yashiki- The Four Dimension Mansion. A mansion on the outskirts of Mushiyori City. This house is filled with many strange architectural structures, and many bizarre designs and patterns. When Yuusuke was kidnapped, he was taken here.
7. Mushiyorishi- Approaching Insect City. A city with a population of 250,000 people. It is the site of the tunnel between the Demon World and the Human World. This is the city where all of the people with abilities are from (With exception to Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei, who all have unofficial abilities).
8. Reikai Strength Classification System- The system that the Spirit World uses to classify the strength of Demons. It�s based on a later grade system, S being the strongest and E being the lowest.
9. Black Book Club- A club of gamblers who use demons for their gambling purposes. They were the sponsors for the Dark Tournament, and led by Sakyo. These people led Sensui down the path that he took.
10. Irima Douketsu- Entering Demon Cave. A deep, labyrinth-like cave. In the middle, Sensui has placed the center of the Kyokai Tunnel.
11. Jigen Tou- A Dimensional Sword. A blade that can cut through dimensions. It�s the only attack that can cut through the wall that prevents B and A class demons from entering the human world.
12. Ura Otoko- The Reverse Man. A dimensional demon that lurks deep within the earth. The Ura Otoko is controlled by Itsuki.
13. Yaminade- An Eight Handed Demon. A demon that has the ability to control and manipulate dimensional tunnels using six of its hands, that are normally invisible. Only one of them has been featured, Sensui�s partner, Itsuki.
14. Kyokai Tunnel- A Boundary Tunnel. A tunnel connecting the Human World and Demon World. Midway through the tunnel is a fence that is the last line preventing stronger demons from passing through the tunnel.
15. Game Battler- A video game in which the player must defeat the Demon King and free the Demon City. This is a video game that tests all aspects of the player�s skills. It has shooting, puzzles, trivia, sports, fighting, among other things. In order to pass to the final stage, three stages have to be beaten. There is only one known expert at this game, The Game Master. Sensui and Genkai are apparently very good at the game. Kurama and Kaitou are also very skilled at it, and Yuusuke is average.
16. Janen Ju- The Tree of Evil Thoughts. A tree that feeds off of the evil thoughts of its victim. It makes the victim relive their worst memory over and over, until they die. The tree grows from a smog made of dried fungus and other plants. The Janen Ju was used against Older Toguro, who had possessed the Gourmet�s body. Since Toguro is immortal, he�ll always have to relive his worst memory.
17. Reikai Tokubetsu Boueui Tai (Toku Boueui Tai for short)- The Spirit World Special Defense Force. A group of elite soldiers deployed to combat A grade and S grade enemies. They can also seal an open dimensional tunnels. Enma Daiou deployed them to kill Yuusuke and seal Sensui�s tunnel, but were scared of by Yuusuke�s S grade power, and the fact that he pretended to be an evil demon.
18. Mazoku- The Demon Family. This is the race that Yuusuke and his father Raizen belong to. They have similar fighting styles and a lot of power.
19. Koenma�s Pacifier- Koenma�s trademark pacifier is actually a powerful tool. Koenma has stored a lot of energy in the pacifier, enough to seal away evil demons and to revive the dead. Koenma used the pacifier to revive The Game Master after he died. When he tries to use it as a seal, he casts a spell called Ma Fuu Kan, the Demon Seal Circle. He tried to use it on Sensui to seal him away, but Sensui simply crushed it.
20. Sei Kou Ki- Saint Light Energy. A rare aura that very few have. It is not only a strong offensive augmentation, but also a good defensive tool. Sensui is one of the few who have this skill. Sensui can apparently fly using this skill as well.
21. Tatakai no Kami- The God of Battle. The title of the strongest warrior, who is a master of melee combat. This is the title of Raizen, Yuusuke�s father.
22. Koorime- An Ice Maiden. A woman or girl who comes from an enchanted floating island. On this island, only women are present. When these women cry, they�re tears become invaluable ice gems. Hiei was born to an ice demon that had eloped with a fire demon, but was then banished from the island and cast off of the land to the Demon World, which was located beneath the island.
23. Megalaga- A random heavy metal band that Kuwabara and his gang go to see. After the show, they are attacked by Mitarai, Sensui's Seaman.
