I have made a set of patterns using plywood that I use as templates. Using my router and a collet on the base I can use a strait flute router bit to cut out all the shapes. To do this, I nail the patterns to the lumber and set the depth of the router bit so it will cut all the way through the lumber. Next, I simply follow the template with the router allowing the straight flute router bit to cut out the shape. This method saves me quite a bit of time because the router cuts much faster than the jigsaw or the bandsaw. Another reason this method is a timesaver is because the router make a much smoother cut than the other methods and the job of sanding is much easier. I think this method is a good one to consider particualarly if you plan to make more than one bench.

Thank you for spending time looking at my web page.
