How I Made The shapes

To cut the shapes, I use my big horse and a half router with a two inch long bearing guided router bit with a half inch shank. This is easier and more precise than using a jigsaw or a band saw to cut the pieces and requires less sanding. to do this, I made some templates using half inch thick double sided sign board. I then use sheet rock screws to actually affix the template to the lumber. I then use my router table and simply feed the piece around the router bit so that the bearing guide follows the template and cuts the desired shape. If you do not have this set up, just draw the shape on the wood with that paper pattern you made and cut the shapes out using a jigsaw or a band saw. If you are using this method, leave the line and then use a belt sander to sand down to the line.
