The Careers and Guidance-counseling Service is an important part of the curriculum. It affords very necessary assistance to the student during an often difficult and critical period of his life.
It helps him to select a suitable career and furnishes him with experience of interviews, assessments and so on. This type of attention, given to the pupils over a period of years aids him in understanding and coping with pressures he will encounter at school and afterwards.
Games
Traditionally the school has been very closely associated with Gaelic games. De La Salle has competed successfully at the highest level in a number of Colleges' Championships and the continuation of this is regarded as important to the school.
We are fortunate to have a sports complex which includes a full size football field, a basketball court, a tennis court, a volleyball court and fully fitted dressing rooms.
Students are also coached in golf, table tennis, chess and athletics.
Discipline
Discipline and good behavior are considered as being extremely important. Without good discipline, the aims of the school could not be achieved.
The school has a comprehensive set of rules, which must be adhered to by all the pupils. A very serious view is taken of misbehaviour by our students within the school and when traveling to and from the school; because it is during their years at school that they acquire a self-discipline which is reflected in responsible behaviour.
We find that this approach, coupled with our pastoral care system, provides excellent training for the student in later life and enables the student to attain the highest standards, academic and otherwise.
