General Information
College Uniform
All pupils are expected to wear the college uniform which consists of gray slacks, a De La Salle dark blue V-neck pullover, medium blue shirt and school tie.
Exam Assessments & Progress Reports
The examination courses followed by students in De Le Salle are a three year Junior Certificate followed by a three year Leaving Certificate cycle.
The college endeavours to keep parents fully informed on their children's application and progress. Written reports are supplied at Christmas and Summer. Parents are invited to visit the College to meet their son's Classmaster, by appointment, during the term. Parent-Teacher meetings are also arranged.
The college takes great pride in its academic achievements. Success can be measured in many ways. One yardstick is the way that over 90%, on average obtain places in 3rd level education or employment within one month of receiving their exam results.
In the last couple of years two of our students have won University Scholarships to Trinity on the basis of their Leaving Cert results.
Former pupils have achieved great prominence in many fields such as Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Engineering, the Arts, farming, Electronics and Computers.
De La Salle pupils have proved themselves to be very high achievers in the areas of industry and technology and they hold pivotal positions in these fields.
Absence
When a pupil is absent from school, his class teacher must receive a note from his parents to explain his non-attendance.
Extra Curricular Activities
In addition to the activities already stated, the school offers the following: Choir training, concerts, inter-school debates, inter-school public speaking, art classes,
Educational School Tours, both local and European, take place yearly.
The De La Salle team took first place in the Cork area final of the schools Business quiz organised by The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and sponsored by T.S.B. Bank in 1997. This was the second year in a row that the school has distinguished itself in this quiz, having tied for first place in the All-Ireland Final of the competition in Dublin in 1996.
De La Salle achieved the unique honour of winning the overall award for Young Scientist of the Year Competition in the recent past.
The college also has a very vibrant environmental group which has featured in a number of RTE television programs.
School Bank
The students learn to save wisely through the use of the school bank. Because they operate themselves, they also learn the basic skills of running a day to day banking system.
Computer Laboratory
The importance of computers in modern education is fully catered for with the computer laboratory.
