Talyn is Moya's baby, a hybrid Leviathan, with Peacekeeper DNA. The crew of Moya broke a Peacekeeper shield that had been preventing the pregnancy, back in They've Got A Secret. Together with Pilot, the crew kept Moya safe and allowed the birth to happen at the end of Season 1. The baby was then named by Aeryn, after a request from Moya that she do so.

Talyn's first days were hectic, with Peacekeepers, led by Scorpius, pursuing both Talyn and Moya through an asteroid belt as Scorpius went after Crichton. The worst part was probably that Crais, in exile from the Peacekeepers, managed to get aboard Talyn. Being as young as Talyn was, he recognised only the leadership qualities he saw, and not the motives behind the leader's actions. As a result, he picked Crais as a captain, and the two starburst away from Moya. Without the emotional guidance provided by Moya and Aeryn, the crew feared Talyn would be corrupted by Crais.

The crew encounter wreckage left by one of Talyn's attacks in Out Of Their Minds, but discover that he used his formidable weapons only for self-defence. They hold out hope that Crais and Talyn were acting with honour. They encounter Talyn again in The Ugly Truth where Crais tries to ask for help replacing Talyn's main cannon with a net, a less deadly weapon, but when the traders get to close to Talyn, thay are shot out of the sky, prompting Crais and Talyn to free. They meet again at the end of Season 2 where Talyn helps destroy the Shadow Depository, and both ship and Captain seem in a responsible mood.

Talyn and Crais go on to prove themselves even more so when they take on Scorpius's command carrier in Season Of Death, and believe that they take out Scorpius aboard a transport. Their troubles do not stop there though as a Peacekeeper retrieval squad begins pursuit. They are forced to go back to Moya at one point when they are desperate for repairs, and when they have done so, several members of Moya's crew come aboard with Crais as Season 3 progresses.

Talyn's adventures continue with this new crew, with problems occuring when Talyn and Crais's viewpoints conflict (see Green Eyed Monster), also when Aeryn is offered a position as a co-pilot in the same episode, and when Stark takes over command as a Pilot in Meltdown. However, things take a turn for the worse when Talyn starts shooting wildly, taking out a medical research base, and then turning his guns towards Moya. A child alone in the universe, Talyn doesn't know his place, and panics. The crew are forced to shut him down, and at the end of season 3, he is back in the hands of the Peacekeepers as repairs are attempted.
