    Angel
Born in 1727, Galway, Ireland, Angel was then known as Liam. As he grew up, he never managed to get on with his father, and he became a drunken, rebellious womaniser. However, this time was short as he met Darla in 1753, where he died and became the vampire Angelus.

As a vampire, he caused thousands of deaths between 1753 and 1898 (see history for more details), until he was cursed with a soul by gypsies. He was then rejected by Darla, and left on the streets, feeding on rats and other vermin.

    Angel

Angel It wasn't until late in the 20th century that Angel, the vampire with a soul, began to realise his purpose, his mission in life. He then meets Buffy, a vampire slayer, and not only helps her against many enemies, but also falls in love with her.

However, it turns out that this was a mistake. When Angel and Buffy first sleep together, Angel has a "perfect moment of happiness", and this is the one thing that releases his soul once more, turning him back to Angelus.

Shortly before bringing about the end of the world, Angel's soul is restored, but its too late. Angel has to be killed to prevent the disaster. However, he is brought back by the Powers That Be, his mission is uncomplete, he must prevent the apocalypse.

When he returns though, he decides he can't be with Buffy as the temptation would be too great, and decides to leave for Los Angeles. There he meets Doyle, and begins his new mission, helping the people of the city. He also teams up with Cordelia, and later Wesley, Gunn and Fred.

    Angel

In Los Angeles, Angel helps many people (see episode guides for each season), but his most happy moments are around the birth of his son, Connor. Losing him was a massive blow, one that he nearly killed Wesley for. When his son does return, he is much older, and things are strained, but Angel is happy he has returned, and tries to truly connect with his son. However, Holtz's poison has done its damage, and Angel is cast to the bottom of the sea by his son.
