1727 - The boy who later becomes Angel is born in Galway, Ireland.

1753 - Now grown up, this boy has become a drunk, a trouble maker, and a man who cannot get on with his father. He meets Darla who offers him a chance to change all that. He becomes Angelus, and kills everyone in his village.

1759 - Angelus and Darla travel across Wales and England, leaving a trail of destruction behind them.

1760 - In London, Darla brings Angelus before the Master, but unexpectedly, Angelus defies the old vampire, and refuses to live in the sewers. He and Darla leave for a life of carnage on the surface.

1765 - In France, the hunter Holtz pursues and nearly catches Angelus. At this stage it seemed as if Darla would abandon Angelus, but they both escape and meet again in Vienna.

1860 - Angelus and Darla meet Drusilla in London, a young girl with "the sense", visions of what will happen to her. She is tortured by Angelus, and then turned. She joins Darla and Angel.

1880 - Now accompanied by Drusilla, Darla and Angelus meet Spike in London, who is turned by Drusilla. The four are now united, one of the greatest destructive forces on the planet.

1898 - In Romania, Darla gives Angelus a gypsy girl as a birthday present. However, shortly after, Angelus is cursed by other gypsies who find out about the killing. They give him a soul, and he finds he is unable to stay with Darla.

1900 - Angel, the vampire with a soul, returns to Darla to try and prove himself, but fails when he cannot drink from a baby. He is cast aside to live on the streets for many years, alone.

1952 - In Los Angeles, Angel stays at the Hyperion Hotel, the place he later takes over in season 2. Here he meets a demon that he leaves alone, but feels he must return there 48 years later.

1997 - Angel begins to use his powers to help people, and meets the vampire slayer Buffy. The two become involved, but a moment of pure happiness lifts the curse from Angel, and he becomes Angelus once more.

1997 - Angelus brings the world close to destruction before his curse is put back. However, at that moment, Buffy pushes him into Hell to stop the world's destruction. It seems as if he is lost.

1998 - Angel is a clearly a being that is needed in this world as he is returned to earth by mystical powers. However, he is unable to stay near Buffy in case he loses his soul once more.
