ABOUT THE PROJECT and ROLES
What is the "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" or "LXG"?
The "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" is a graphic novel, written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Kevin O'Neill. The first two volumes are about an unusual "menagerie" of Victorian literary characters, including Mina Murray, Allan Quatermain, Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, Captain Nemo and the Invisible Man, that is recruited by Britain's MI-5 for missions of a special nature. Recently, the film adaptation of the comics was released in North America. While the film is similiar in its basic concept, it also differs greatly in terms of plot and certain characters.

What is the 2004 Calendar Project all about?
One day, I got this crazy in my idea in my head that the League fandom should do something some other fandoms do: create an unofficial movie-based calendar featuring the artwork and writing of as many wonderfully talented fans as possible. After all, it didn't look as if there would be any official ones being released, yet wouldn't it be nice if we could still have a calendar or something for our rooms? And that's how the idea was born.
The final product will be a 12-month calendar, with each month featuring a piece of artwork, writing and quotes and the usual calendar grid based on the League movie. Completely put together by fans. The pages will be available for downloading here and then you can bind it yourself in any way you like.
Can you please elaborate on what the artists do?
Each artist will provide at least one piece of artwork for a month of their choice. Think of those usual commercial calendars where there's a large picture on the top page and a grid with calendar blocks below. That large picture is what they're responsible for. The art can be anything from handrawn pictures to pencil sketches to cartoons to photo collages.
They may also draw tiny little picture for the calendar blocks (eg. for holidays) but it's merely a consideration at this point. If you are interested in doing it though, please make a note of it in the comments on the application.
What about the writers?
Writers will write poetry and/or small fanfic snippets to go along with the art, if the artist so desires it. Some writers may also be in charge of digging up quotes to either on the artwork or calendar blocks, but that's still a pending idea.
What's the policy on collaborations?
Collaborations for this project are defined as any two people working together on one piece of artwork as well as any writing needed for it. The two can collaborate in any way (eg. one draws, one CGs, etc.) and they will not have anyone else assigned to work with them.
And the calendar grid designers?
Two or three people will be responsible for making the calendar blocks pages. They will have to come up with a design, decide on the colour schemes, etc. In addition, they are also to do research on the holidays for their assigned months and decide which ones wil be included on the calendar.
