Announcement!!!

Win US$20 in poetry contest

JOIN and free the poet in you in our contest. You’re just an e-mail away to prove that you have the talent in poetry.

A poetry contest will be held in memory of the late Ruth Persigas Udtohan, a young poetess, who at 17 succumbed to heart failure on Sept. 9, 2001.   At an early age, Udtohan had displayed her God-given talents. She loved writing short stories, poems and designing gowns. She dreamed not to become a teacher or an accountant; she simply wanted to be a fashion artist.

Last year however, she was diagnosed to have leukemia, said to be a hereditary disease. It is also known as cancer of the blood and   the blood-forming tissues. The exact cause of most leukemia cases however remains unknown up to this day.

Udtohan is survived by her parents, Arino and Paulina Udtohan, sisters Rowena Udtohan-Jala and Arlene Udtohan-Pesquira and brother, Leo Udtohan, a freelance journalist.

The same contest is held in Turkey, Mexico, Brazil and Greece. In Turkey, the contest is coordinated by Yasemin Tayfur, Ruth's best friend for almost four years.  Anastasia Christodou is coordinating the contest in Greece, while Ariadna Rodriguez for Brazil and Mexico, respectively.
