Topeka Words & Music by Tim Ferrell I found God in a catalytic converter in Topeka on a Monday night Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future So you know what keeps me hangin' around No you can't keep a good man down. I taste blood every time I think of summer, If that's true, I'm in for quite a treat 'Cause I'm beggin' for the sun in a mid-Missouri winter waitin' desperately to get outta town No you can't keep a good man down. You've been known to obsess over the future, Do you think you'll get away from the past? As you stone yourself just to make it through til midnight Consider what you might have found You think you've got a good thing now.... From here on, you can count on all things going the way they must've from the start All you feel is the current flowing through you and seizing your infected heart. I found God in a catalytic converter in Topeka on a Monday night. I found God in a catalytic converter in Topeka on a Monday night. Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future... saint has a past, every sinner has a future saint has a past, every sinner has a future saint has a past, every sinner has a future, sinner has a future, sinner has a future.
Allright... Doc wanted Saturday Night Thunderbolt so: First things first - the main chord progression is A F# E D A You play through that twice and the third one goes D F# E B D A E. Play along with the CD and the timing should be pretty obvious. If not I can break it down more. Heading into "Knock me down" we go: X X X X X X 6 7 9 7 7 9 4 5 7 X X X Which we repeat during "a thunderbolt that turned this mad dog..." Then for the chorus ("I'm in love with a girl..."): F# E D B F# E D A F# E D B B D ("She's gotta marry someone...") And then the "whoah oah"s: A E D F# E end on A and start the next verse It goes pretty much the same through the rest - all we're missing is the little lead lick during the "Whoa oah"s. It's only on the High E and B strings and it goes like this: X 5 X 5 X 5 X 5 X 5 X 5 X then add 7 5 X 5 X 9 X 5 X 9 X 5 X 9 X 5 X X 9 then repeat part 1 (above) then add 9 7 5 and end on 5 X X X 5 Hopefully that makes sense. The lead guitar plays that at the end of the first chorus then we go back to A to start the second verse ("The world on pause all Newton's laws..."). You should be able to get through the second verse and everything alright based on the stuff above. The only real difference comes when we get to the second set of "Whoa oah"s and the bridge. Basically, you do the lead lick that I just explained all the way through 2 times. But, then it continues a couple of measures -- the chords (for the whole entire section) go: A E D F# E (Same lead lick as above) A E D E (Same lead lick as above) F# E D B (lead lick changes * ) F# E D -- andrew hits the last D as a power chord, but I actually hit 0 3 2 0 X X * and the lead lick changes for the last two measures to: 5 0 4 0 2 0 X X (high E string) X X X X X X X X (B String) X X X X X X 4 2 (G string) you go through that 6 times and end on the D chord with the open high E that I showed above. Finally, just in case you weren't sure, the part where everything drops out but the guitar is just the "Knock me down..." chords: X X X X X X 6 7 9 7 7 9 4 5 7 X X X Hopefully that's enough for you guys to be able to figure the whole song out. If you need anything explained in more detail or whatever just ask. And anybody should feel free to post stuff here on how they think different songs go and I'll correct you if your tabs need it.
Love Me Dead by Andrew Volpe Love me cancerously Like a salt-sore soaked in the sea. 'High-maintenance' means You're a gluttonous queen Narcissistic and mean. Kill me romantically Fill my soul with vomit Then ask me for a piece of gum. Bitter and dumb You're my sugarplum. You're awful, I love you! Elektra's Complex by Andrew Volpe She's got Ansel Adams postcards on her wall They validate her artsiness (she got 'em at the mall) Soulmate's not around, some guy she did on Outward Bound The tragic inconvenience of it all.
