Farming

The main goal of Harvest moon is to successfully raise crops. This page will walk you through your first spring on the farm, detail the crops available to plant and their natures in summer and fall, and detail raising crops in a greenhouse

The First Spring

After clearing the land (see
beginning), you must plow the land in such a way as to reap the most harvest. The best way to do this is to make a three by three plot near the shipping bin:

Purchase seeds from the flower shop at these prices:

  • Cabbage: 200g (selling at 90g per unit)
  • Potatoes: 200g (selling at 80g per unit)
  • Turnips: 200g (selling at 60g per unit)

Stand in the center square of the three by three plot, equip your selected seeds, and press B. If you water them every day, cabbage will take seven days, potatoes will take six days, and turnips will take four days to fully mature for harvest. To harvest all of your crops, these are the latest dates the crops should be planted:

  • Cabbage: Spring 22
  • Potatoes: Spring 23
  • Turnips: Spring 25

To fill your watering can, stand next to the well on your land (to the right of the chicken coop) and press B. To water your plants, stand next to them and press B. After you have been watering your plants for a long time, you will be able to hold B when you water, watering three plants instead of one (This is the silver watering can. The gold watering can waters nine squares at once.). To harvest plants, stand next to them when they are in their most mature form, and press A. Walk with the plant to the shipping bin and press A when standing next to the bin. You receive all income from harvests of any kind that you put in the shipping bin at 5pm each evening. To terminate plants, equip the sickle and press B when standing next to the plant. Be careful with your sickle near your crops.

Summer

Purchase seeds from the flower shop at these prices during summer:

  • Tomatoes: 300g (selling at 90g per unit)
  • Corn: 300g (selling at 120g per unit)

If you water them every day, tomatoes will take nine days, and corn will take thirteen days to fully mature for harvest. Tomatoes and corn should be planted at the beginning of the season, within the first few days of summer, to be fully harvested. Every three days, tomato and corn crops will mature again for harvest. They should be watered after you harvest them on the day they are harvested to be ready again in three days.

Fall

Purchase seeds from the flower shop at these prices during fall:

  • Corn: 300g (selling at 60g per unit)

If you water it every day eggplant crop will take seven days to fully mature for harvest. Eggplant should be planted at the beginning of the season, within the first few days of fall, to be fully harvested. Every three days, eggplant crops will mature again for harvest. It should be watered after you harvest it on the day it is harvested to be ready again in three days.

Greenhouse

Farming in the greenhouse is exactly like farming outside, only you have pick of all of the seeds, in winter you can grow strawberries, the greenhouse has its own water system, time doesnt pass while you water the plants, and you dont get the benefit of rain.
