Clyde Purcell Taylor, my husband's grandfather, was born in Masonville, Daviess Co., KY 1888 and died in Kenton Co., KY 1937. He was the son of Henry Yager Taylor and Sarah Purcell. Clyde married Frances Burke Hamtpon 1916. Frances b 1893 Bowling Green, KY d 1976 Boone Co., KY was the daughter of John Andrew Hampton and Florence Ritter. Clyde was a graduate of the University of Kentucky, 1915, and entered the teaching field serving as superintendent of Covington Schools, Kenton Co., KY at the time of his death. During WW I he served as an officer overseas in France. In 1935 he was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the office of State Superintendent of Public Instruction. Clyde is buried in Elkton, KY beside his in-laws.
Clyde's father, Henry Yager Taylor b July 4, 1855 Daviess Co., KY d August 24, 1922 Daviess Co., KY married Sarah Alice Purcell February 14, 1878 in Daviess Co. Sarah, b September 5, 1856 d December 4, 1904, was the daughter of Lindsey Purcell and Minora Lashbrook.

Henry and Sarah Taylor are buried in the Bethabara Cemetery at Habit, Daviess Co.,KY.
Obituary for Henry:
August 25, 1922 Henry Yager Taylor, age 67, a prominent farmer of Daviess County, died of cancer of the stomach at 5:45 o'clock Wednesday at the city hospital following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Taylor was born July 4, 1855, in the Habit neighborhood. He was a well known farmer in this county, owning lands in the Masonville, Habit, and Whitesville neighborhoods. He was a member of the South Hampton Baptist Church. Surviving him are two daughters, Mrs. Howard Ellis, Hartford, Mrs. Albro Duncan, Maceo, and six sons, Herman W., Lindsey, Clyde P., Charles., John H., and E.W. Coakley Taylor. The funeral will be conducted from Bethabara Baptist Church at 1:30 o"clock this afternoon, Rev. Norris Lashbrook, having charge of the services. Interment will be in Bethabara cemetery.
