Peter Ritter (parents unknown but census report them both born OH) was born about 1833 OH and died September 4, 1890 Maury Co., TN. He married Elizabeth Ferguson November 29, 1856 in Maury Co., daughter of Thomas Vitteto Ferguson and Rebecca Unknown. Elizabeth was born February 7, 1839 TN and died October 17, 1888 Maury Co., TN.
Peter and Elizabeth are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Columbia, TN. According to the Maury Co. 1870 & 1880 census, Peter was a carriage maker and blacksmith.

Another Wedding
On Tuesday, at 5 p.m. January 29, at the residence of the bride's brother, Mr. Eugene Ritter, on 6th street, Mr. H. (J) A. Hampton and Miss Florence A. Ritter were married. Rev. A.D. McFerriu solemnized the rites of matrimony upon this auspicious occassion, the ceremnoy of the M.E. Church he repeated in a beautiful and impressive manner. A few near relatives and friends were present to witness the union of this popular young couple. The beautiful and intellectual bride is well known in our midst.
The groom is a worthy and handsome young gentleman, formerly of Tennessee but now of Rome, Ga., and an engineer on the E.T.V. & G.R.R. The bride was becomingly attired in a dark grey dress, tailor made and had fresh flowers.
The bridal party left immediately, and took the evening train, enroute for Rome, Ga. where they will reside in the future.
May a long, useful, and happy life be theirs.
