Lashbrook states that he was born in Murray Precinct, Daviess Co. 1825. His father was Samuel Lashbrook, a soldier in the War of 1812, who upon the return from the war "with three brothers, George, John, and James, came from Bullitt to Daviess County and settled in Masonville on a farm." Biography of Achilles Lashbrook, born Bullitt Co., KY 1820, says that he was the son of James Lashbrook, and the youngest of six children, coming to Daviess Co. when he was 6 years old His family settled near Bethabara church. Biography of Norris Lashbrook, born 1809 Bullitt Co., KY states he was the second son of James Lashbrook who settled in the "timber near where Bethabara church now is". He was 15 when the family came to Daviess Co. p. 691 Biography of John W. Lashbrook, born 1834, states that his father was John Lashbrook, born Shelby Co., KY 1798, who came to Daviess Co. soon after his marriage to Rebecca Burton, 1826, and settled in Masonville. John W. married Miriam Burton and "Mrs. Lashbrook is a member of the Methodist Episcopal church." (Note: John W. Lashbrook is the brother of Mionra Lashbrook.) |

Morgan p. 8 Families named as early residents of the Habit area include James Lashbrook in 1824; John Lashbrook about 1827 and Norris Lashbrook prior to 1828. Other Taylor-Pursell-Lashbrook-King connections to Bethabara Baptist include: "Osbern" King and daughter Eliza Ann King Pursell are listed as a members 1840-1860 (Eliza married Benjamin Pursell and was mother to Lindsey Pursell who married Minora Lashbrook) An early member, Thomas R. Taylor (whose biography appears on page 79) is the same age to be a brother or cousin to Joseph Taylor, father of Captain William J. Taylor and grandfather of Henry Y. Taylor. William and Henry are both buried in Bethabara cemetery. A William Taylor is listed as a member 1840-1860 that could be Captain William J. Taylor. |
