Cosecant is the reciprocal of the sine, and it may be written as 1/sin(x). The secant is the reciprocal of the cosine, that may be written as 1/sin(x). The cotangent is the reciprocal of the cotangent, and that may be written as 1/tan(x).

Examples

Refer to the above triangle ABC:

If the Tangent of angle A is 28�, and side opposite side is 40 cm, find the value of the adjacent side:

tan28�= opposite/adjacent= 40/b

b=40/tan28 is approximately equal to 75.2cm



If you would like to find the degree of the angle, use the inverse of the function.

(i.e. sin^-1 cos^-1)
