Real Terrorism:

We all know what terrorism is. You've probably seen a movie that featured terrorists in it. They're usually protrayed as a bunch of either very smart or very dumb looking characters with a Russian or German accent. Another funny detail is that they always walk with AK-47's and  MAC-10's. Right now I'm going to inform you about some existing terrorists groups. Some details of real actions are very interesting for use in a map.

Terrorist-organisations per country (Europe)

Belgium:

The first bombing in Belgium was in 1984 by the CCC (Fighting Communist Cells). Their actions were directed against NATO. During the same year, they made 6 attacks on NATO fuelpipes. In the beginning of 1985 they said they wouldn't spair anymore lives.

Ireland:

We all know this one. The illegal Irish Republican Army (IRA) has been fighting for reunitement with North-Ireland to one indepentent Irish State since 1922. With their acts of violence they except the British to retreat. The IRA and Irish National Liberation Army (INLA) don't fear bloody murders of militaries, policemen, judges and politicians.

Israel: (Not Europe, but still interesting)

The in 1964 raised Palestinian Liberation Army (PLO) is the headorganisation of smaller Palestinian resistance-organisations that are fighting for an independent Palestina. Al Fatah is the most important group, its headquarters is in Tunis. When the PLO decided to work with the Isreali's, other, more radical organisations were raised. The most important of those groups are: The Peoplesfront Liberation Palestina (PFLP) and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestina (DFLP). Their acts of terrorism against Israel and its allies still cause many casualties.

Italy 

In Italy the goal of the Red Brigade initially was the disruption and collapse of the Italian state. By making bonds with the CCC in Belgium and the Action Directe in France they directed their actions against NATO, especially people and companies that had to do with weaponsindustry. The U.S. are held responsible for wartreats in the world and seen as their main enemy.

France:

 Action Directe was raised in 1979 to make the French state collapse. Following for instance the Red Brigade in Italy and the CCC in Belgium, they directed their actions against representitives of the judicial power, like judges and policemen. The latest years they attacked NATO storages and installations. In 1986 this country was struck by a series of bloody attacks, executed by the Solidarity-commity and the Arabic Political Prisoners of the Middle-East. (CSPPA). Their goal was the release of terrorists from the Revolutionairy Armed Libanese Fractions (FARL), who attacked and killed diplomates.

The Netherlands

The Netherlands first faced terrorism in 1974 when the French embassy in The Hague was occupied by the Japanese Red Army. In 1975 South-Moluccans hijacked a train near Wijster and The Point and held the passengers for hostages. The airforce made a jet fly really low over the train with full afterburners on, while the marines stormed in and took out the terrorists without jeopardizing the hostages. In 1977 and 1978 there were shootings between the police and RAF-members (Rote Armee Fraktion) who went here for assylum. Since september 1985 the Netherlands have their 'own terrorist actiongroup': the Revolutionaire Racistiese Axie (Revolutionaire Racist Action or RARA). This group attacked MAKRO companies to force the company-owner, Browncoal  Merchantorganisation to retreat from South-Africa.

Spain: 

The Baskan liberation movement is, next to the IRA, the most dangerous European terrorist organisation. They're fighting for complete self-control over Baskland (North-Spain/South-France) To achieve this goal they use abduction and 'executions' of people with authority, especially judges. In 1973 the Spanish Prime Minister Blanco was killed in Madrid by an ETA bombing. Recent arrests didn't lead to less terrorist acts.
