| Before there were reality tv shows, there actually was some quality programing on television. Thankfully there still are some good shows. Here is my list of my favorite shows on tv. Have any comments on my list? Let me know by signing my guestbook. -Jeffrey Matthew Davis |

| Nip/Tuck (FX) Sure, the writing isn't that great, and yeah, its very soap-operaish, but God damn, I can't get enough of that guy's ass!!! Six Feet Under (HBO) My favorite show. Very well acted and well written. A fantastic ensemble show about a family that owns a morgue and how dealing with death every day effects their life. Inventive and amazing. Will and Grace (NBC) The best small-cast comedy on television since "I Love Lucy." They deserve the Emmy and Golden Globe nominations that they get every year, and even with some slumps in the past season, the show is still hillariously funny. I Love Lucy It seems that my favorite comedy should be followed by its classic predecessor. Lucile Ball and Desi Arnez are legends, and just by thinking about certain episodes, such as the Chocolate Factory episode, I crack up. ER (NBC) Despite its ever rotating cast, this show is unstopable. The writing is excellent and face-paced, and the acting from most of the cast (kill me, but Julianna Margules can't act) is superb. Next season, after Noah Wyle leaves the show for good, it will be the only show to not have an original cast member that has stayed with the show since the first episode on. All in the Family By far the best show of the 70s. Who knew a bigot could be so fun to watch, and so endearing at times? In our current society, with how p.c. we try to be, there will never be another show like this. "Whoopi" tried, and it stunk. South Park (Comedy Central) The world needs satire, and this show has tons of it. You may think it's offensive, but you can't deny that it's smart and has something to say about our world. Sex in the City (HBO) Finally, a girl show that men can enjoy. I know a lot of straight guys that would tune in to see Kim Catrall's breasts, and hell, even I was turned on by them. Match its willingness to push the envelope and its clever, honest writing, and you've got a hit that's sure to be a classic. Queer as Folk (Showtime) Sure it's a gay soap-opera. Sure it's one short step from softcore porn. But there's something compelling about these characters and their stories, and I applaud the show for being as ballzy as it is. |
