| Million Dollar Baby- Despite how the ads for the film makes it look like Rocky with a girl, it is definately one of the best films of the past ten years. | ||||||||||||||||||||

| Shrek 2- Antonio Banderas should get an Oscar for stealing the show from Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy. Puss in Boots kicks butt! American Beauty- Great acting, an amazing script, and beautiful cinematography. My favorite movie of all time. Forrest Gump- Tom Hanks rules! There's Something About Mary- The smartest dumb comedy ever. Moulin Rouge- Baz Luhrmann's colorful, vibrant, beautiful film brought back the movie musical, and in my opinion is one of the best of the genre. Hedwig and the Angry Inch- Though it could have been just another gay-themed indie film, writer/director/actor John Camron Mitchell makes this story a universal one about love and life. Citizen Kane- Considered by the American Film Institute as the best film ever made, this black and white gem uses a brilliant script and still groundbreaking cinematography to tell the story of a man who is corrupted by wealth, fame, sex, and power. Fight Club- Not only does Brad Pitt have a beautiful wife and a herculean figure, but he also has some of the best acting skills in Hollywood, as he proved with this film. Signin' in the Rain- Even people that lothe movie musicals can't help but smile the whole way through this movie. There will never be another leading man like Gene Kelly. Being John Malkovich- The most original screenplay of the last ten years. And seeing Camron Diaz as an ugly lesbian is just hillarious. Some Like it Hot- Sure there are lots of buddy films about two guys in drag, but this one is considered the best comedic film ever, and it has Marilyn Monroe as well. A great film. The Emperor's New Groove- The silliest and in my opinion best Disney film ever made. Sunset Boulevard- Probably the darkest movie about Hollywood. The opening and closing sequences still give me chills. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner- Sure this movie about interracial marriage durring the Civil Rights Movement is a bit dated, but how can you go wrong with a cast headed by Sidney Poitier, Kathrine Hepburn, and Spencer Tracy? Quills- Geoffrey Rush's portrayal of the sex-crazed Marquis de Sade is funny, endearing, and chilling, often at the same time. Some of the most amazing and underrated acting I've seen. Cold Mountain- Screw Cassablanca! Is there anything more romantic than someone walking across a war-torn country to find you? No, I think not. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- The first original love story in years. Funny yet thoughtful and endearing. Very smart. The Incredables- Finally, a family movie that adults can enjoy! And Edna Mole is my role model! Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera- Sure I'm biased since I liked the stage show, but the movie is beautiful in its own right, and despite staying very loyal to the source material it makes more interesting choices in storytelling (and in who the lead character is). |
