A tragic love story |

When Cassandra started having the headaches, she didn't think much of them, but when they became almost constant and the pain got worse, she had gone to see the Doctor. By the time she was throuhg, she had seen 5 Doctor's and the diagnosis had nearly killed her, she could not believe what they had told her, she had a brain tumor and only had about 1 ro 2 years to live. They also had told her that the headaches would get worse and at times they would be so severe, she would not be able to do anything. They gave her medication for the pain, but it would not help completely. She had decided that she wanted to see the rest of this beautiful country before she died, so she decided to explore the whole country and since she lived in Massachusetts, she had a lot to explore. |

A year and a half had passed by the time she reached this small town called Four Corners. she had been welcomed so warmly by the resident's, that she decided to stay. There was one man in particular, that she fancied, he had his flaws, gambling and conning, even though he didn't seem to do much of the latter these days. She could not help her feelings, he was the most handsome man she had ever seen and his captivating green eyes, had taken her prisoner, the first time she looked in them. They had become close in the month since she arrived here, they talked a lot, she managed to hide the pain of her headaches from him, but it was becoming more difficult as they got worse. She had not yet told him of her true feelings, she did not want to tell him, that she loved him, because she knew if she did and he had the same feelings for her, it would make things more difficult for him when she died and she would not bring him that kind of pain. |

Today she was sitting with Ezra, they were talking and playing a friendly game of poker, she loved every minute that she spent with him, his warm smile and infectious laughter made her feel warm inside, whenever he looked at her, it felt like he was looking into her soul. She was suddenly hit with a sharp pain in her head, it was worse than anything she had felt so far and she could not hide it this time, "Darlin, my god, what is wrong?" Ezra said as he quickly moved to her, seeing the tremendous pain on her face, she had turned very pale too, he got very scared. "It's just a headache, I will be fine Ezra, please don't worry about me." Cassie said. The pain had started to subside, the feel of Ezra's hand on her face felt so good, he had not really touched her before, she could not believe how soft his hand was. She had loved how Ezra had started calling her Cassie, she had never been called that before, but she decided that she loved it. "Are you sure your all right? You really turned pale for a moment, maybe you should see Nathan." Ezra said, caressing her cheek with his thumb, which made her close her eyes. "Yes, I have had them before, the Doctor's have said that there is nothing I con do about them, so please don't worry." She said. When she opened her eyes again, Ezra's mouth was only inches from hers, she began to breath hard and her heart began to pound, he had never been this close to her before. Then he slowly moved closer, caressing her lips with his, she closed her eyes again, letting hm work magic on her mouth. Cassie was feeling so alive and passionate, she put her hand around his neck, pulling him closer kissing him deeper and more passionately, then shared her tongue with him, as they did a passionate dance, in their mouths, she moaned, she was being flooded with emotions that she had not felt in a long time and never this strong. Ezra finally pulled away, just staring into her eyes, he can see the desire in Cassie's eyes, could she have feelings for him too, he wondered. Cassie's heart was pounding and she was finding it hard to breath, god his kiss was incredible, she thought, it truly left her breathless. "Ezra, if you will excuse me, I think I will go to my room for a while." Cassie said as she got up to leave. "Certainly my dear, I hope I didn't go too far with you." He said, she shook her head. "No Ezra, not at all, I am just feeling a little tired."She replied. "Good afternoon Darlin, I will see you later." Ezra said, looking quite concerned. She smiled and left. |

Ezra was getting worried, he saw no sign of Cassie, for the rest of the day. He thought about going to her room, to check on her, but didn't think that would be appropriate. So he decided that if he did not see her in the morning, then he would go check on her. So he played poker the rest of the evening, losing, because his mind was on Cassie. It was after 1:00am and he was alone in the saloon, even Inez had gone to bed, but Ezra couldn't sleep, he was very worried about Cassie, he was going to talk to her about it in the morning. He Stood to leave, when he saw her standing in the doorway to the saloon, she looked so beautiful, but something didn't look right either. He moved over to her "Are you all right Cassie? I was very worried about you." He said, "Ezra, I need you to just hold me, I am afraid right now." She said as tears welled up in her eyes. "Cassie Darlin, what is wrong? please tell me." Ezra said and took her in his arms, holding her tight, she felt so safe in his arms. |

She desperately wanted to tell him everything, but she just couldn't, not yet anyway. She knew it would have to be soon, she knew she didn't have much time left, the pain in her head was constant and sharp. She was afraid and she didn't want to die, "Ezra, I can't tell you right now, please understand, I will tell you when I feel like I can, please kiss me like you did earlier, it made me feel better." She pleaded. He put her at arms length, to look in her eyes, she tried not to look in his, but it was impossible, she became a prisoner of his captivating eyes, again, she would do whatever he wanted, she was lost in them now, more so than before, because of the concern and compassion that showed in them now. He pulled her close again, taking her mouth with his, caressing hedr lips with his tongue, she greedily granted him access and they shared their tongues in a passionate dance. She was overwhelmed by the passion, yet tenderness of his kiss, she would have swooned, if he hadn't been holding her so tight. |

He loved the feel of Cassie's lips, they were so soft, full and warm. He drank deeper, taking in her sweet nectar, loving the taste of her. He could kiss this beautiful woman in his arms, forever. The feel of her against him, making him kiss her deeper, completely devouring her mouth now, he wanted her badly, but he regained his control and pulled away. "Thank you Ezra, I....I love you." She said, Ezra looked shocked, he could not believe she loved him too. "Oh Cassie, I love you too." He said, then she fainted in his arms. He picked her up in his arms and carried her quickly to Nathan's. he was so worried about her, they had just declared their love, now she had fainted. The pain in her eyes had not escaped his notice, but if she didn't want to talk about it, he would not push her. He arrived at Nathan's and placed her on the bed, Nathan asked him to wait outside. |

Ezra was pacing on the balcony outside Nathan's, each moment that passed, he grew more and more concerned. He had nearly panicked, when she had fainted in his arms, the pain he had seen in her eyes was starting to haunt him, he wished he had made her see Nathan, but she said she already saw a Doctor. He was also remembering their kiss, it had been so wonderful, he felt a wave of love wash over him during the first kiss and he knew his feelings for her were strong, but now she was at Nathan's. possibly unconscious, or worse. He so wanted to bust in and see what was going on, to see how she was. |

Nathan was examining Cassandra, he had become fond of her, as all the other men, as well as Mary, Inez, and Casey, had. So he was deeply concerned, he could find nothing outwardly wrong. He used some strong smelling herbs to bring her around, she opened her eyes. Nathan saw a lot of pain in her eyes. "Do you wanna tell me what happened?" Nathan asked, "I will tell you Nathan, but you must promise me not to tell Ezra about it, I need to do it in my own way." She responded. Nathan nodded, "I have a brain tumor, I have maybe a few month's left. I get severe headaches with it, but now the pain is constant, but sometimes I get really sharp pains," She said. Nathan looked stricken, "Cassie, I am so sorry, I will not say anythin to Ezra, you really care about him, don't ya?" Nathan asked, "Yes Nathan, I love him, he told me, right before I fainted, that he loved me." Cassie said, wondering where Ezra was now. Nathan was in shock, he had no idea that the two them had that strong of feelings for one another. "Where is Ezra?" Cassie asked, "He is outside, last I knew anyways." Nathan said, "Can you send him in please?" She asked. Nathan nodded amd went to the door, Ezra was there immediately, "She wants to see ya." Nathan told him, then left. |
