St. James PS

Newtownabbey Schools
in Belfast Lough Sea & Shore Envirnomental/Arts Project
Three Newtownabbey Primary Schools were involved in this year's BLSS Environmental/Arts project. St. James and Whitehouse have have both been participating in the project for four years now.  Glengormley Integrated PS joined the project this year as part of the expansion to reach all cultural traditions.  Three P6 classes from these schools got to experience the project.
The classes went on fieldtrips to the Lagan Lookout, Boat Trip down Belfast Lough, where the mighty Titanic was built and set sail from, and to Hazelbank Park on the Loughshore.  Four artists, Poet Adrian Rice, Artist Phil O'Hanlon & Helen Crossey and Drama teacher/director Molly Freeman worked with the children to create poetry, art and drama from their fieldtrips around the lough. The project was celebrated at Ballyearl Theatre. Click on each of the schools or links below to view photos from the project's work.
