CARRICKFERGUS SCHOOLS

In Belfast Lough Project
Three Schools took part in this year's project. One P6 class from each school visited Lagan Lookout, took a boat trip around Belfast Lough, where the Titanic was built and first set sail from, and to the GasWorks in Carrickfergus.
The children were inspired to write poetry, paint art pieces and write and perform plays under the instruction of artists Phil O'Hanlon and Helen Crossey; poet/editor Adrian Rice and dramatist/director/Educator Molly Freeman. Molly Freeman also scripted children's poetry into performances and edited the children's drama scripts.  The children then performed their original work at a local launch at the
Town Hall in Carrickfergus.  The work will be anthologized in a beautiful, high quality book - Lough Views: A Children's Anthology of Poetry, Art and Drama edited by poet Adrian Rice. Due September 2003.
