Fatloss:Thermogenics

Q: What are thermogenic pills?
A: Thermogenic pills boost one's metabolism while concomittantly suppressing one's appetite. These pills are by no-means safe just because of their "100% natural" claims. A good example my friend gave me was "Potassium Cyanide is 100% natural (KCN - for your chemistry geeks) and about 5 mg of the stuff will kill you." They are not FDA approved and one of the many side-effects involves potential liver-damage (though this has not been scientifically proven).

Q: Really? Cool! So no exercise for me then?
A: No! These are supplements and should be used as such. If you even decide to take them keep in mind that they are not as effective as the manufacturer's claim they are (613% more effective?? Ya right, more effective than what? - A dead guy probably). They do not substitute anything and are only additives to one's routine (a healthy additive? a not so healthy additive?
----> Still being debated).

I was quite happy and impressed when the latest Muscle and Fitness magazine mentioned that cardio-workouts and proper eating is vital for burning fat along with the use of these pills. At least they're not endorsing these pills as pure fat sucker-upers.

This is sort of out of the topic area but I feel obliged to say this Guys I cannot stress enough how much bullshit is out there with the "Lose fat and never exercise again!" and the "Take one pill a day and lose up to three inches in your waist in a week!". If something like this sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!. You want something to help you recognize a fad diet when you see one? Ok then click here.

Q: So, is it right for me to take these as supplements then?
A: Let's get into that:

Ok, you've explored my site (right?) And you know what i've said about healthy eating and exercise? (say yes!)
Ok well when you eat healthily, and even if you diet you ingest fewer calories. This is how you burn off fat, by ingesting fewer calories and burning more BUT this isn't this easy you see, hehe your body catches up on you - it's not as dumb as you think. While you are all like "whooa dude! I like totally lost some fat", your body says "Ohh #@%!^*!! we're losing fat boys! We gotta conserve calories - slow down metabolism and if worse comes to worst then kill some muscle".
Right away you see a problem with this 'miscommunication' that I just made up two minutes ago? You burn fat, good for you, your body stops metabolism - bad for you. (See, with this you can see why dieting doesn't work either - same scenario except muscle-loss is almost always a symptom). So thermogenic pills keep your metabolism going while you ingest fewer calories. This is optimum isn't it? You eating less calories and your body not doing anything to stop you. But...remember these pills are not FDA-approved so who knows what else it can do? I happen to know one brand of these pills that actually was taken off the market because side-effects included stripping the heart of its fat-layers. For those of you unsure about this - having fat-layers removed from your heart is, well, pretty much undesireable! (It's BAD).

Q: Do you take them?
A: Fair question, and in fact yes I do--HOWEVER I, by no means, use the recommended dosage. They suggest a maximum of 12 tablets a day, I have 3 a day - one before an alternate meal and I will admit my appetite was surpressed only to the point where I would not feel hungry at odd hours of the day and my muscles did appear more prominant. In fact, everyday? I don't even take them! Maybe four times a week.

So now you know about thermogenic pills - use this simple formula for determining your daily (if you decide to take it daily which again I do not recommend) dosage.
You take their daily maximum dosage from the phrase on the bottle that reads "Do not exceed 'n' tablets in one day" - where 'n' will be replaced my a number. You take the value for 'n', ignore it and pretend it says 3. Sound good?
But along with this I want others to realize that you do not need supplements to lose-fat. I lose a lot of fat before I even heard of thermogenics by means that will appear on this website. These supplements are an experiment that I am trying out on a safe-level.

Ok that's all I have to say, click here to go back to the main page (sorry those javascript applications are going to pop up again)!
