Introduction

So let me guess why you are here. If you are anything like me. You are here because you feel you can look better by losing fat. Well here you can find out where to get started, as well as finding other sites with useful information.

Common Misconception

First off, I would to remind All of you that spot reduction simply is not possible. That is to say that you cannot control what part of your body you lose fat from. Fat-loss is an all or none event, either you lose fat, from all over your body gradually, or you don't at all - it is as simple as that. Where's the logic in spot-reducing as well? Would this not mean that, if spot-reduction were possible, typists would have really skinny fingers and people who chew a lot of gum would have really skinny faces? If you learn anything from this website, I hope that it is that spot-reduction is not possible

Be on the lookout

As well as this, please ALL of you be on the watch for fad-diets that claim "10 lbs less in one week" or those diets that you take by a pill or preparable drink. These diets, although SOME may give you the desired effect along with others, such as loss of appetite, are not the proper or healthy way to go about losing weight. It is even doubtful that they work, however if you do somehow manage to lose 10 lbs in one week - chances are it will be water-loss and muscle-loss. It was brought to my attention that a while back some people started a scam by selling weight-loss pills that actually worked - because in each pill there was a tapeworm. This is not to say that all pills that help you lose weight have these parasites in them - but this is the sort of thing that they do. If they don't lose the weight for you by sticking a parasite in you, then it stops your appetite which stops you from eating and therefore losing weight. This, to me, sounds like induced-anorexia. And if its NOT any of the above, then it dehydrates you (diuretic pill) so any weight-loss you note is in fact waterloss. On second thought, if you learn anything from this website, I hope that it is exercising and healthy eating is the only way to go.

Supplements

There are lots of arguments for and against supplements. I personally am neutral to the whole issue. Supplements, if they can help you lose fat without being responsible for any other side-effects, are ok to use. I personally did not use any supplements to get my results. That isn't to say I haven't tried any, a lot of them claim bogus facts: "613% more effective in fatloss" face it, 613% more effective compared to what? There are supplements out there that do not work and there are supplements that help you lose fat along with other things as well. As long as extreme caution is practiced when experimenting with the decision to use supplements, then so be it, but it is important to realize that they are not necessary for fatloss and that fatloss has occured even before such supplements were created.

Free Tip!! Drink plenty of water for losing fat! It is the best fat-loss drink!!!

About me

(e-mail the webmaster for questions/comments by clicking here.)

Well, for anonymity's sake, I will not reveal my name, or age, or anything identifiable of myself except my gender: Male. But I am here to inform all of you about weight-loss and how to go about doing it by using me as an example. I in January, 2001 was surprised to see how overweight I was. Until then I was in an oblivious state I guess you can call it. I never considered myself skinny, or never considered myself fat, just moderate if such an example can be visualized. I remember I took off my shirt and was shocked at how much my belly was protruding over my waist. I decided then "you are going to lose weight, this is crazy". I went down a few bad roads, I wanted to lose as much weight in as little time... this led me to basically starving myself, eating one small "mini-meal" a day such as an apple and then rushing home each day to see if I lost any weight according to the bathroom scale. This eventually stopped my apetite completely and I could go for days without eating at a time which never concerned me because I thought I was losing weight by doing so. As it turned out, any weight-loss I noted on the scale was water-loss and dehydration. I did not realize that by not eating, my body shut off its metabolic rate, which left me in as worse a position as any. This meant that, even though I ate one meal a day, whatever I did eat was all stored as fat.

I was lucky to stop then and start researching the healthy approach to losing weight. As it turns out, the bathroom scale is, I feel, the worst indication of fatloss. It is important to realize that it doesn't measure fatloss exclusively, it is a measurement of weight. Weight is the force that gravity exerts on an object of discrete mass. Now, I know all of the physics-buffs are going to be like "weight is measured in Newton's in memory if Sir Isaac". While this is true, it is confusing to think that weight is measured in Kg, or Lbs. These are units of mass. But enough of semantics for now. My point is that the scale measures how much MATTER you have inside of you (which is your MASS). In otherwords, by going to the bathroom and emptying your bladder your mass has changed. By losing water through sweat your mass has changed - this may or may not be picked up by the scale because differences are slight - but it proves my point that weight-loss by no means infers fat-loss.

Now, I realize all of this should probably be under the "Useless Bathroom-Scale and Physics Trivia" category- but seeing as how I have no such category, it will be placed right here - misplaced under the "About me" category.

But now seriously, I have some things to say about myself.
