A view just uphill from Lorane Highway at Friendly Street/Whitten Drive.

Several of the homes in this area were built in the 1910s and 1920s. The landscaping on the left still has some of the original plantings including large conifers, a corner maple with spectacular red autumn color, a huge evergreen huckleberry, a hedge of flowering quince that signals earliest spring to all area residents, a large stand of fragrant mock orange, and the native, also fragrant white swamp azalea.

The old stairs at the corner of Lorane Highway and Friendly Street/Whitten Drive.

These stairs were likely constructed in 1920, at the same time the home was built.
