Nov 2000 I took a well needed 'vacation' from the computer these last several days. I didn't do much of anything besides check email and write a few messages. I sometimes don't even realize how much time I've wasted on it. Halloween went very smoothly. Celia had fun and Mara was bug-eyed watching all the strange people walking around. Nathan called me a few nights ago. It was great. We talked for about 45 minutes, trying to cram in everything we wanted to say to each other before the phone card ran out. When we started talking about bills, I think that's when we realized maybe it was time to get off. So he got to call home to Minnesota and talk to his brother for a few minutes afterward. He is due home on the 20th and I cannot wait. In a way I just want him to be home to be with the girls. I can always handle the seperation ok myself if I have to. I got Celia to eat a green bean one night by telling her it was Daddy's favorite. That definitely does not work anymore. Mara is eating anything she can get her little fat hands on. She ate a green bean, a cookie, and potatoes au gratin the other night - without one tooth. She was doing some serious drooling over Celia's dinner but I had to draw the line. Celia has to eat her own. Well I will TRY to keep up with the entries now, even though I don't think anyone's reading anymore.
Nov 2000 Mara and Celia went to hourly care for two hours today. It was WONDERFUL. I was worried about Mara, since I never really left her with anyone else besides a couple of friends. But she did great - played the whole time. Celia I knew would have fun. She had been looking forward to it. As I was walking out of the room I left her in, I hear, "Celia, we don't stand on the table." What was this girl thinking? She never does stuff like that. I didn't even turn around, I just walked out VERY quickly. I just had lunch with Shelby and hung around for a while. Mara was gabbing away when I picked her up, as if to tell me all the fun she had being away from me. Both of the girls were in bed early. I think I might make this a habit. Nathan comes home in 12 days. Yes, I am officially counting down now. I thought maybe I'd wait to hit the grocery store again until he came home, but since I ate La Choy Crispy Wide Noodles and homemade mac and cheese for dinner, I can consider the state of my pantry an emergency.
Nov 2000 Migraine day. I hate that! I woke up with one, and I've had it all day. I'm about to OD on Excedrin or something. Nathan emailed me. There is this horrible rumor that the guys will be going to the Gulf in December for a few months. Horrible! I guess I'll be moving even sooner if that happens, and I'll be making the move alone. UGH! I should know better than to hope for an easy move. Rush, rush! So anyway, because of this dang head problem, I didn't leave the house today. I went to a neighbor's for a little while but that was it. I stepped out to the hallway an it was like seeing daylight for the first time in years. Pretty painful. I've even got the computer monitor down to it's lowest 'brightness' setting. I wanted to make it popcorn and movie night for Celia and I, but after dinner she told me she was tired. So she did her nightly routine and went to bed. Surprise surprise. She's starting to act like me! OK 10 more days, guys!!
Nov 2000 Today was baby shower day. Mara went with me and Celia was with a sitter. Tomorrow I'm leaving Mara with a neighbor and I'm taking Celia with me to go to medical and get a couple of tests done. I'm hoping to find out if I have a thyroid problem, which could be the reason for the constant fatigue. So, 8 more days. It will be the longest 8 days ever. It's only been two months but it seems so much longer. I guess because Mara has grown so much in that time. She is constantly babbling "mama" now, which is really exciting for me. She can do that at 3 in the morning and I'll be happy to get up with her. I know it won't last long though.
Nov 2000 Ok. Celia started hacking pretty bad yesterday, and Mara woke up with a runny nose this morning. Anyone who has kids knows that when you see that, you're up for a very long night. Mara is usually asleep by 7:30. It's now 1:20am and she barely fell asleep. Well actually I still hear her sneezing and tossing around in her crib, so she's probably going to be awake again soon. I gave the girl medicine, but nothing seems to work. This is the first time she's been sick and I feel horrible. ok Mara is awake again. Must go.
Nov 2000 Mara finally went to sleep at 6:30 am. I'm not stupid, so I went to bed, too. She slept a whole three hours. So up at 9:30 we were, even after that long night. Had to hit the grocery store, so we did that. Shelby was nice enough to take Mara for me. It rained out, as it always does when I have to go shopping. So now I have a stomach full of new junk food and I'm ready to go to bed. It's 8:45 now. I haven't slept since a short nap this afternoon and I am so exhausted. I also have a full blown cold going on. Later.
